Infected with Security Tool! Help please.

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

I'm using Firefox on a PC about 5 years old with AVG free AV & I can't see how to eliminate this.

Tried downloading MalwareBytes but it won't let me run it.

Hi, thanks for that.

I downloaded the portable version of Super Anti Spyware but Security Tool is identifying it (& everything else) as infected & refusing to let it run.

Hover your mouse over the tray icon for security tool and it should pop up a tool tip displaying a number. This number is the .exe on your system drive. Note it down.

You then need to boot up in safe mode.

Search for the number.exe

Delete it.

Reboot in normal mode.

If it's still causing a problem after this we need to edit the registry. So post back on here and I'll step you through it.

tpwuk, Thanks for the offer.

I restarted in Safe Mode, started & updated SAS & it's running now.

It's identified Security Tool so hopefully at the end of the scan it'll delete the damn thing it it's entirety.

If it doesn't I'll take you up on your offer.

Scan completed, Security Tool deleted & it all seems to be back to normal.
