Inside of the windscreen is wet and frozen

At work the other nights mates Honda accord no apparent leaks inside but froze up inside, mates landcruiser no leaks but has 2 wet dogs his froze up inside.

Boths cars in worksshop all night doors open under heater no problems with landcruiser since but Honda has the condensation back so hes got a problem.

Plus i think its that time of year its damp and cold.

Another mate has an old pug and its just crap the quality of the electics and fittings has to be seen to be beleived, plus its broken down again:D.

Ps my cars been nice and dry, but last week for no reason the screen misted up bad 1/2 mile from my house and had to stop to allow to clear.

My girlfriend's car this morning has got frost on the inside of the windscreen, which took her a long time to clear away. The car is a brand new 308 Pug with only 100 miles.

I've not come across this before.

Apart from giving myself a good telling off for not buying another Merc, is this a problem and should I take it to the dealer pronto?

I would go for bunged drains from the screen well area.

once had a polo delivered withone of 2 drains folded over. steamed up like a sauna

Spoken to Poogo service department at local dealer. On a new car, the chemicals used to treat the fabric and prevent stains, release moisture in the cars first few weeks, which if not dried out using A/C collects on the screen, and can be made even worse if the recirculating air function is left on.

I expect this is possible, but this is the first time it's ever happened to us. HD

No offence to HowardD, but this sounds like cobblers to me, I've owned several new cars and this have never happened..what on earth did we all do before AC was 'standard'??? How could the chemical used hold enough water within it to do this on more than maybe 1 or 2 occasions, theres not going to be litres and litres of the stuff is there. I've only ever experienced this myself on old 'leaky' cars. On the other hand I suppose, if true, it would depends on whether you bought the car in winter/summer as to whether you noticed or not.

Those tubs of crystals that collect and store moisture are pretty good.

Does sound like Pierre wanted a Gauloise more than he wanted to properly seal the car though..

I have the solution to your problem.

Might be ok!

I sat inside it last night. no damp on the carpets, and none this morning.

It has got a big windscreen; - it's a bit of a bus. Missus complains that it takes for ever to demist on a normal morning.

This morning's weather was even frostier than yesterday but the screen was dry inside. Random.

Reading the OP again....

If there is enough moisture to be a frozen mess, I reckon the car needs looking at.

A moisture film is one thing. The last time I encountered frost on the inside of a windscreen was on an Austin 1300... nuff said!
Austin 1300 eh? you are starting to "age" yourself now!

Ummm, errrr ahh that'll be because I owned one of the very last ones and it was ... oh damn, my verrrrry first car :)

Was that convincing enough?

Car Dealer in telling the truth shocker?
