Hi guys,

this is a pic of the back of my headlights.

I have H7 Globes, i am holing the 2 wire that come off this set-up.

Can anyone tell me what to do from here on how to install a
HID Conversion kit?

i just need to know how to connect it to the ballast?

Thanks

Brad

To put it simply, (assuming you don't have a complete kit and only a ballast/bulbs) you will need to remove your old filament bulbs and cut the wire going to them. Pull that out of the headlamp assembly and connect it to the ballast (which you will fit in a safe place under the bonnet. Rewire the headlamp assembly with the wires coming from the ballast - insert the new HID bulbs in place of your old ones and bobs your uncle.

Depending on your car you may need to reprogram the ECU so that the lights actually turn on... (oh, and your bulb-warning light may give you some problems)

As always, YMMV - read the instructions on the kit for specific details to the kit before fitting it!

Just out of interest, what bulbs (for the small lights / dipped beam) do cars with normal Xenons use?

I bought some LED ones which have the right colour, but because of their low usage or voltage/ampage they give me a msg on my dash, and i dont want this!

Cars with xenons have xenons for dipped beam and H4 or H7 for main. Standard sides, which tend to look very yellow in comparison.

To fit LEDs you need to put a resistor across them to fool the system. They must draw the same current as std bulbs

so do you think a 1996 C200 W202

will need anything does with the ECU?
AFAIK there is no setting for this, not on the pre-facelift or the facelift.

I had no problem with my HID kit although mine was factory-style and the headlamp housings may have had compensators built-in.
