Hi IT Boffins ...

Having a bit of a nightmare , my new 2gb of RAM arrived today , and i have managed to install 1gb of it

Basically my laptop ( Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2080 ) has 512mb ( 2 x 256 mb ) , i've got one of them out and replaced it with the first 1gb stick but can't for the life of me find the other one ...

When i power the laptop up it is saying i have 1.25 gb of RAM , so there must be a second stick in there somewhere , but i can't find it.

Looked at the online manual now, and it seems to suggest that there is only one module ? How can this be ? I did the scan that someone posted and it showed 2 x 256mb modules ! Could there be 256mb of RAM that is not changeable and ' built in ' in some way ?

Any help anyone can offer ?

Thanks in advance

H

Hello,

One is under the back panel (i guess the one you have) the other one will be under the keyboard..

But watch pout as there will be a cover plate at the top of the kepboard and this may well have a screw holding it on in the middle under the base (may have to take battery out to access).

This is how some of the older Toshiba M3's we have at work are set up..

Good luck

Predictably , the next question is :-

How do i take the keyboard out ? :D

Ha Ha !!!

Helpful ...... i rather suspected that might be the case !! :D

My laptop is different to that one shown ...

No way to access through the top .... the top cover doesn't come off like that ...

If its like a Toshiba fairly easy.

There is a small panel above the keyboard that clips off each side, but has a screw in the middle. This is found underneath the laptop.

The keyboard has a few screws (shoudl be obvious) and lifts up with the ribbon cable attached. Memory probably under a metal cover in front of you. Again will be screwed down (the cover not the memory)

maybe worth trying a google, replacing laptop keyboard

Here is a panel on top of keyboard (dont just pull it off it will have a screw)

Ahh!!!

My son has V2010 like that one, and I upgraded his memory in the same way. He does not have an opening on the back of the machine.

So as I understand it you can only see one memory slot through the cover on the back? Is that correct?

Is there anything else in there that has removeable screws, perhaps it is accessed through another panel, or under the battery.

Sorry I can't be any more help.

Thanks guys !!

I have done it , you were right, keyboard out , little metal plate , and the last module is under there ... :)

System showing 1.99gb of RAM , Mission accomplished !

And now i know how someone defusing a nuclear bomb feels :o
