Insurance is a JOKE

I paid 40 % more for our 4 cars and house after doing (many hours on) the quote markets back in Feb.
Its apparently got even worse for the reasons I mentioned above (parts still going up, parts delays extending courtesy car periods, having to write more cars off, paying their staff more plus increased or back to normal traffic volumes / accidents)

Expensive or hard to insure cars interest and therefore prices will fall as other bills increase
I expect / fear that the number of uninsured will increase....

That BMW is very nice though and a compelling example if it is materially less all round than an M car
If you are that way inclined of course....;)

Insurance in today for the S63 AMG Coupe £280, up from £214. £0 Voluntary £150 Compulsory excess, that's before I search the comparison sites as I always do. I am on a Range Rover forum & their premiums are going mental. One guy with 13years ncd is being asked for between £2500 & £5000 when searching. His current company is refusing to insure any Range Rover

Report on BBC today on how premiums have apparently risen 40%.😲
"Don't believe what you read in the papers. They're just out to capture my dime." (From the Philosopher, Paul Simon)

We know that "inertia pricing" is a "thing." As they discount to get trade and then put prices back to normal on renewal.

"Halo" cars have features that appeal to the "wrong type." Bits that can get removed and put onto lesser cars. (Wheels, seats, trim etc), or whole cars that can be quietly exported.

LJK Setright always reckoned that the model just below top of the range was the one to have - both in terms of VFM and usability. Like that lovely BMW 440i.

To be fair, insurance on a new Range Rover is jolly good value.

In sunny SW London, every three months you get a whole new car on the insurance.

I'll just stick to sunny Scotland. Don't suppose you would like to adopt Humza Useless

That's not legal anymore....renewal prices have to be the same as offered to new customers.
My insurance was just 20 quid more...my wife's just 18. The house was 25 pounds less. Postcode counts for a lot I think.

Of course insurance companies are following the regulations.

It’s just coincidence that the renewal quotes are high but can be negotiated down, if the client can be bothered to ask.

Got the house insured today, last year £460 , this year £560 , so called them to see if they could do anything for me , they reduced it to £450, so less than last year - bloody chancers.

K
Renewed car insurance with Aviva yesterday.

Initial automated renewal: just over £800, up about £100 on last year.

So I called them. And paid them just £616.

Not 14% up, just 14% down.

Who are you insured with?

All brokers are jummping on the band wagon .Like every seller in the country . And bib fat cats just get richer robbing us motorists .
It's greedflation.

People are just paying without a second thought, whether it's the £7 for a pint, £10 for a dry white wine, £15 for a burger, or £125 for a bedroom in a pub.

(OK, London prices, but adjust to your local 2023 rates.)

There's some justification: garages are chockablock so are able to increase their rates for repairs, parts were more expensive last year, and car prices have risen....but....

The answer is to negotiate, shop around, and just say "no."

.

Insured with Saga cos I'm old (ish) :( Anyway tried the usual sites & for the first time ever, my renewal quote is cheaper:banana: than the comparison sites, even Saga on the comparison site is more expensive than the renewal. Some of the quotes were 3 to 4 times more expensive,:dk: unbelievable and its like for like cover.:)

Im with SAGA for the SLK55 £300 all in with No NCD to use in that car 😀

I phoned my insurance today to get a quote for 2017 M4.
Bear in mind I am 46 years old with 14 years NCB, Clean License never ever got insurance refused, Never ever had any points.
I live in IG11 Post Code..

Quote I got from Chris Knott Insurance £3200 :(
I've been with Chriss Knott for nearly 6-7 years as they been very competitive so far.
Comparison sites are coming around £3500 or around.
I had performance cars most of the times. I really don't understand how this works.

Any tips, at this Rate i won't be able to get C43 AMG or M3 at all.
This is scary I’m in IG7 I’m due to renewal in December, we different London boroughs I’ll let you know how I get on

So had my renewal in from Axa , last year I paid £676, renewal came in at £1034, (£358 increase), have 19 years NCB which is protected + legal cover, I live in inner London.

Went on the comparison website as always, but the cheapest one was 1450 from admiral little box, whoever they are, and the second cheapest was quote me happy at 1654.

So got on the blower to Axa, to see if there was any movement, increased the VE from £350 to £500, and the lady gave me a further discount, which reduced the renewal price to £911. So an increase of £234, compared to the initial £358. Which in the end is some sort of result.

Fwiw I have a real issue with the OP's misleading and innacurate choice of thread title.. :

"Jokes" are created to amuse people, and are generally funny.
Insurance fails to meet either criteria (as well as countless others, indicated to in the subsequent posts)

My Dad’s insurance exactly doubled from £107 to £214. He’s shopping around to see if he can get a better deal. If I remember right, last year he received £259( vouchers with that £107 premium, and it included roadside breakdown assistance!
