Insurance is a JOKE

I never had protected NCB on the bike......its a rip off anyway...if you move to another company it will count for nothing....as my wife found out when a deer tried to kill her SLK. I have it on my car....but only as it was so cheap.

Even with protected NCB?
Nothing good seems to come out of Adrian Flux in my experience.:fail:
All mine apart from the SLK55 are with Adrian flux never had a problem, SLK55 is with SAGA must be getting old 🙂

Inertia pricing.

You get what you settle for.

People who don’t negotiate get higher prices.

Always check the detail.

Don’t buy daft insurance extras: legal protection, low claims excess excess

Make sure your annual mileage estimate is accurate if it’s low

Include extra people on the policy: a woman, a parent, and so on.

And don’t claim for silly small stuff.

When We bought our 2023 Audi SQ5 MHEV in Feb, we were being quoted £850 for comp insurance. we did a vehicle change to the SQ5 on the wife's AA insurance cover from her Merc E350 for £99 changing fee for the remaining 8months of the policy ( initial premium on the E350 was £280.) (E350 insured elsewhere. For £280) 8 months later.. the annual renewal premium from AA was £2,450 for the SQ5.
A-PLAN quoted £1600 as new business.
Admiral via compare-the-meerekat was £710

AA explained their insurance panel prefer to insure cars sub 50k in value.. even the advisor was shocked at the renewal price.
A-Plan's panel don't like high end performance SUVs or electric cars ( it's not a hybrid in the conventional sense)

Admiral won.
Hands down. .( or hands up it would seem!)

More insurance nonsense.

Renewal due 19th October and paid £379.46 to SAGA last year including a change from the Saab 9-5 to the CLK back in May. Circumstances, drivers etc have not changed at all.

Renewal from SAGA £577.73

Quotes from all the usual suspects (LV, Admiral, Direct Line etc) all in the £600+ area.

Quote from Aviva £394

Tried Money Saving Expert. Quote from Aviva Zero £277 with £0 excesses.

Makes no sense whatsoever.

Hi , as the insurance market is volitoil at present I did not look around to obtain a better quote.

If you have at random rang a broker and let's say you want to insure a Mercedes but little did you know that at present they won't quote you you have technically been declined and that problem is in the system somewhere waiting to bite you in the ****.

I understand it a fine line but !

Not really.....they are loads of insurance companies that wont insure certain types or classes of car....and other that specialise in particular cars and therefore might not quote me on my ALFA or Merc.....that's not the same as refusing you due to your bad claims record or endorsements etc.

Regarding speeding offences. If I get an SP30 with the offer of a speeding course, no points and no fine, is that declarable on insurance renewal?
As there was no conviction or fie/points, I assume not, but happy to be corrected.

Found this from Compare the Market....bit odd....but Id like to think they would know....

You don't legally have to tell your insurance provider that you've been on a speed awareness course unless they specifically ask you. If they do, you must be honest or you could invalidate your car insurance.

My renewal this year was £1600, policy renewed on Tuesday. I'm swapping it to a new BMW on Friday and I've had a £300 refund :)

Found this, also on CtM. Answers my question.

"You won’t be asked when starting a quote with us, as a speed awareness course isn’t classed as a driving conviction. Course data is held by UKROEd and not the DVLA, so it won’t be on your driving record and can’t be checked by insurance providers."

If you are offered, and attend, the option of a Speed Awareness Course (and complete it to the course organisers satisfaction) then you will not be given an SP30.
As far as I can recall only one insurer used to ask about them, and they no longer do.
Caveat - Last week I checked with Direct Line, but I have no recent knowledge of other insurers.

Hi , As people have said to me you cannot believe what you read on Google.

LV car insurance don't want to know if you have been on an speed aware course. LV class it as educational.

It's best to check on an individual basis re car insurance company requirements for an SAC.

Adding to this . I just received the renewal for the 'run around Yaris' . The amount owed is EXACTLY the same , to the penny as last year ! I have had premium cost go up , down and be pretty close to a year ago.

But never the exact same figure.

Hoping the trend continues with the C55....

Realised I've got 4 years NCD rather than 3. Adjusted the quote. Went up a tenner 🤷‍♂️

Age = Mid 60's
Safe(ish) postcode on the south coast

Last years premium £327.32
This years renewal £523.69 - Still less than £1.50 per day to cover as much mayhem as an old guy in stinky old diesel is able to.
Cheapest on Confused = Approx. £690
New policy with current insurer = Approx. £740

Haven't even taken on the policy yet. That was just adjusting the quote!

Some years ago I was having a chat with a couple of underwriters - They admitted that sometimes even they could not understand the minds of the actuaries, but did admit that they were very clever people. Modern computing power makes it possible to quickly carry out very complex calculations.
