I had my renewal through the door today as my insurance is up mid next month, i wont reveal the insurer but the quote i thought was quite reasonable at £ 395 for myself and my wife with my 5 yrs ncd. Written on the quote was " we are pleased to tell you that your premium has not increased this year" . OK i thought, very nice of them . So i went on a price comparision site ,entered my details as per my renewal, and the quote came back £150 cheaper with the same company that i'm insured with now !!!!! A quick phone call to them and they were happy to match the on line price but how can they be so far out in the first place? The details i entered on line were exactly as outlined on my renewal, my occupation is the same, mileage is the samel everything. So i learned a easy way to save a wedge and hope others will do the same at renewal time.

They didn't get it wrong the first time. People have been conditioned into thinking that premiums are on the rise, so the company believes most customers will jump at the chance to renew at last year's price. Their prices for new customers, on the other hand, will be as competitive as possible. Well done for playing them at their own game.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Aviva would not let me take up the 'new customers only' price and insisted that I pay the renewal or go elsewhere.

There's plenty of competition

My renewal was with Aviva for £760. When I told them that, via Compare the meerkat, Admiral had quoted £695 they weren't interested. They said they don't do price matching. When I said, "OK, I won't be renewing" the operator asked if there was anything else he could help me with, I said No and off he went. I saved £65 and have a free meerkat on it's way from Meerkovo. Simples!

Without my asking Aviva announced that renewal for my 60 would be less, about 30 squids iirc, plus another 20 for renewing online. Not too bad I suppose.

Just renewed with Aviva as per letter received - £95 less than last year and about £60 less than 'the best of the rest'. :)

Yesterday I changed my insurance from CL500 (group 44) to a C320cdi (group 40) and yes, it cost me an extra £45. Some ****** about the car being new to me and the higher value - I guess at £4k or so an old CL will be written off by virtually any bump so that's all they'll ever pay.

At least the man from Admiral took off the £17.50 admin charge when I had a hizzy fit!

The interesting bit came when he told me to IGNORE whatever they billed me for renewal, shop around and then get them to match the cheapest quote I could find. I already knew this from when they tried it on last year (and were beaten to the tune of £200 by THEMSELVES online), but I was surprised to be told this by Admiral themselves.

My cousin changed from a group 13 to higher value group 9 - and premuim was, like yours, extra
I've gone to higher value car with lower group - and paid less
I wish insurers would make their minds up:dk:

Renewed with Lancaster @ £135.00 . After all the reports of sharp increases in premiums , i also expected quite a hike , and was pleasantly surprised to see no increase at all.

I have just renewed with LV, after receiving a renewal for £252, phoned to tell them I could get it for 230 and get a free meercat too, after some haggling they renewed over the phone for 214. Simples:bannana::bannana:

I had my renewal through the door today as my insurance is up mid next month,

Sigh.

About to undergo the annual ritual on home insurance renewal with Privilege.

Renewal is 35% higher than a fresh online quote from their own website.

Maybe they just like getting the annual call from us and having a natter to catch up on life with the retentions department. (Well it's more than one call per year as we have two car policies with them as well).

just renewed today with admiral, been with them for the 3rd year running now as nobody seems to be cheaper than them. mind you still expensive though.

renewal came through the post from admiral, grand total of £1051!!! suprisingly that was the cheapest as nobody seems to wants to touch me with a bargepole, the next cheapest was £1673, and that was from sitting with a telephone and speaking to real people for a day. :(

anyway, got onto the blower to admiral and went for a high risk move, it went

"hello sir how may we help you"

"hi, i want to let you know not to automatically renew as i will not be continuing as iv found a significantly cheaper quote"

"oh im very sorry sir, let me speak to my mananger and see if we can match it for you, how much was it"

"740 from the AA"

madamme on phone dissapears and comes back a few minutes later

"hi sir sorry to keep you waiting, i am please to tell you that we can give you a one off quote for £771 which includes free roadside cover, free legal and personal injury cover and also a premium courtesy car as a way of saying thank you for your continued custom"

well i lept this one up, from £1051 to £771 almost £300 saved. result that was.

i just dont understand, im 27, clean lisence with 9 years no claims bonus, surely it shouldnt be this much.

i remember paying just 230 for my golf gti a few years ago.

ah well.

Well blagged Sir. (Other genders are available!)
