What a hornet's nest! There is a big thread about that in this very forum....some insurance companies won't cover a PPFed car at all...most charge an extra premium of some sort.
See here...
PPF on the car have you declared it with insurance? INSURANCE VOIDED | Insurance & Finance
If the car is damaged and requires panel and paint repairs then there is extra labour involved in removing the protective film and reapplying it so there would be, at least, an increase in premiums. Was chatting with a mate earlier and the subject of insurance came up. He was saying, from his experience, insurance firms can be funny about having paint protection film applied to the car.
I'm apparently due circa £1.51. I'll try to not spend it all at once!It did me on the SLK I got a refund for £0.01p
That's nearly a litre of fuel! You go steadyI'm apparently due circa £1.51. I'll try to not spend it all at once!
Wahoo! That should get me to the end of the road. That's nearly a litre of fuel! You go steady
There have been changes to the law with regard regulation of insurance companies and in particular with regard to offering the same deal to new and existing customers.I have noticed that a quote now only lasts 24 hours, I was about to finish paying for a quote from Hastings direct when they informed me that my quote had now expired and would cost an extra £85 to take it out!
I think it’s time insurance companies were more closely regulated as it’s starting to appear as if they can do whatever they like. On the plus side I managed eventually to get insured for £447 fully comp with another company.
My other car is currently insured with Hastings and is due for renewal in July…….guess who WON’T be getting my cash!

Go elsewhere is what I did, I was taken aback because I was led to believe that the quote was valid for 30 days. However if you’re happy to be misled then that is entirely your prerogative .There have been changes to the law with regard regulation of insurance companies and in particular with regard to offering the same deal to new and existing customers.
I am unsure why a price being offered for 24 hours only is an issue? That's seems to be a commercial decision and I am sure that condition was mentioned in the quote that received?
You however are unregulated and can do whatever you like in terms of choosing am insurance company if you do not like the terms and conditions of one you just go elsewhere.
