insurance want tracker

Moneysavingexpert says if you did a search on Moneysupermarket, Confused, CompareTheMarket, Uswitch, TescoCompare and GoCompare, they reckon you would have covered 100% of all UK insurers.

Then you would have given yourself the best chance of finding the best quote.

My CLK350 didn't need a Tracker to insure, not even a CLK55.

It will take you some time but I'm sure it'll save you money.

IIRC Direct Line do not show on any compare site...

I have found them very good, low premium and good coverage. I have had a couple of claims with them and always been dealt with promptly and never a problem

If your insurance company do not insists to have a tracker you are very lucky. Most companies now require you to have one. They are trying to tell you a message. That type of cars especially MB have high thief incidents. You can decide whether to buy or not to buy.:D

When I bought my C220 I wasn't required to have a tracker; yet at the same dealer was a SLK320 for same money, if a little older. Had quote on that car; tracker was required. And the insurance cost was somewhat higher as you'd expect ;)

try a different insurer - unless you want a tracker yourself then it will be cheaper to go elsewhere - the quote shouldnt change much whether you have a tracker or not..... atleast it never did on my 7 series (which did have one) or the CLK which didnt. some companies wanted tracker, some wern't bothered - approx same price either way

Most insurers insisted on a tracker for my last 2 BMW X's, but not for the E class. I took a £200 more expensive quote for the X5 as it didn't require a tracker.

Trackers cost say £100-300 to fit, and the sunscription can be upwards of £200/year, for a car you may not keep that long. Pay a higher repium and avoid the tracker.
