iPhone integration (again!)

Why would you buy one NOT to put the phone in ?

because its a BLUETOOTH phone cradle. For example, home > office is 2 miles, I make that trip 2 or 3 times a day, my iPhone is in a case, I'm hardly likely to take my phone out of its case and put it in the cradle for a 2 mile journey, hence no car kit for that journey. If i had the HFP I would have a car kit (because I could just leave the phone in my pocket and it will work)

I also have a BlackBerry Curve 'work' phone as well as the iPhone for personal use so I guess it would be handy to have that connected as well.
Does anyone know if the HFP and ViseeO are fully functional with the BB.
Also, what would likely happen if I get in the car with both phones?
It's not too important. I don't mind missing the odd work related call in my own time :-)

Hi, The HFP will work fine with both of these phones.

If you get in the car with both phones on you then the HFP will connect to the last one it was connected to. If you turn the bluetooth off on that one it will then auto look for the other phone in its memory.

I just ordered one of these yesterday from Comandonline (Alfie)

Mercedes iphone cradle

It clearly states that it charges the iphone 3G and downloads the address book and if it doesn't do both then it will be of no use to me.

If I do have any issues with it not doing what I need then I will take them up with the supplier and not be airing them on a public forum

Although it now shows out of stock I have email confirmation of despatch.

And of course you will be entitled to and would receive a full refund.

I have tested my own 3G iphone in my car with an iphone cradle and it charges and downloads the full address book.

I personally now use an HFP as I had a used one knocking around and the iphone cradle wont allow me to close the little drawer that the cradle sits in. Plus the HFP is more convenient for me getting in and out of the car frequently. If the iphone cradle did fit the a class then I would use it and hook it up to the ipod kit so I had all my music on the one device rather than having to have a separate ipod in the car!

For those who want a kit to suit non-command cars , the Thb kit is one of the best : they have a range of cradles to suit just about every phone and the iPhone Bluetooth cradle will charge the phone when docked or still connect wirelessly and work whn the phone is in your pocket . I have also found that if I also have my Treo turned on and bluetooth enabled , both phones can be paired to the carkit at once ( obviously only one phone can be active on a call at any given time ) . There is a different cradle for the 3G iPhone and Blackberry models are also well covered .

Details can be seen via the link below

The cradle does as stated. The only issue I have with the cradle is that even though it uses Bluetooth you have to dock it to make a connection.

Well mine arrived yesterday and I went straight out to the car to see what it did.
Plugged it into the car and plugged the phone in, and it started charging. Promising. So I turned on the ignition, played with the steering wheel buttons and got a "wait..." message. 10 minutes later I'm still getting it. So I kicked it, banged it, swore at it until eventually it came up with the message "Memory empty"
Unplugged it, plugged it back in, swore at it some more but there was no way I could get it to work through the speakers or download the address book.

I went back into the house and wifey saw the look on my face and was silly enough to ask what's wrong. So after venting my feelings she looked at me calmly and said....

Have you read the instruction book ?

Ermm...... It now works a treat and does what exactly what it should :o

Holy thread resurrection Batman.

I'm hoping Alfie, Richard or another expert might be able to set me straight.

Based on this thread I was expecting the A2048202351 cradle I've recently purchased to be useless with my iPhone 3GS, but unless I've misunderstood (entirely feasible) it *seems* to be working OK.

So I picked office cradle from eBay for just £6 and fitted it this evening. Hooked up my 3GS and I can see the address book on COMAND, albeit flat as a series of numbers rather than business card style, and it appears to have been charged whilst in the cradle, having increased from 56% to 61% charge whilst I played with it.

So is it not really charging?

Are references to the address book not downloading about what appears to be business card style details accessed via the Service function within COMAND?

Curiously I just plugged into the mains charger in the house and the phone displayed a message about accessory not supporting charging??!!

I have seen this in 1 of 2 situations

1 You plug a device that charges using USB into a device that uses the old firewire charging - unlikely if its in last few years

2. There is some fluff in the connector port on bottom of phone thats stopping it connecting properly, An old toothbrush used very gently should dislodge any , it builds up over time

Worth a try
