not sure if this question belong in this section... if it should
not be here, I'd like to apologize.

My question: Is it possible to completely disable the two rear doors in W202? No, I'm not going to keep someone locked up in the rear seat. Quite the opposite, I want to make it impossible for anyone to enter the car using the rear doors.

I took the door lock pins out, but the rear doors can still
be locked/unlocked from the switch in the dash. If I unplug that switch from the back, I can still unlock the rear doors using the IR remote.

If I'm not mistaken, the rear door locks are operated via vacuum... but is there an electronic connection or fuse that I can disable?

Thanks for any info!

Yeah, are you trying to make it into a Coupe? or maybe a Van!

you can do it by disconnecting the door pulls - take the trim panel off remove the links and then put the panels back on.

A word of warning - if the door rebate trim overlaps the door tim you may not be able to remove the door trim panel again once you close the door - proceed with caution.

If it's just to stop people getting in from the outside you only need disconnect the outer door handle - I'm not sure if that will constitute an MoT failure so it may be worth checking

Bobcat. Remind never to accept a lift with you!!

This would definately constitue an MOT fail as it is a requirement to be able to access a vehicles doors from the outside.

If you really wanted to disable the locks then remove the "B" pillar trim and disconnect the vacuum hose, remembering to plug the open pipe then left.

However once the door had been opened from the inside it would then unlock anyway.

As asked before, why do you want to do this?

I don't think this is correct. Bobcat is referring to the rear doors, and as far as I am aware, there is no direct requirement which states that the rear doors must open (from the inside or outside!). They must however close securely! :)

An MOT examiner could request access to testable items (eg seat belts) but if this was the case (unlikely, most likely could reach through :D ), the doors could be opened from the inside if neccessary. ;)

Oh, and what do you need your rear doors disabled for exactly?!?

Cheers,

Will
