E320 CDI 2000
Hiya, apologies if this seems a stupid question, but how can i tell if my E320 CDI (2000) w210 is an AMG Model?

It doesn't say anything on the log book, there are no badges etc, and the car didn't come with the manual!

The reason i as is because i am trying to fit a tow bar and i have had two different tow bars which don't fit with my vehicle. Then i have read a few posts about Amg models not able to have tow bars!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

E36 and e55 are high performance petrol engined models. Believe me, you'd know if you'd bought one accidentally instead of your diesel. The first sub 20-mpg tankful would be a dead give away. :D

Ah ok, thank you. Would it show as an E36/E55 on my log book then, rather than e320 cdi? Cheers.

AMG never made a diesel W210,maybe your tow bars are not meantt fit mercedes

Hiya, i had a tow bar fitted to a 99' Petrol w210 i had a few years ago but for some reason the bar wont line up on this one. All the different tow bar brands all look the same shape and design but the back of my car doesn't like them! The bolts from the actual tow bar come up inside the cavity in the boot so have no way of fixing them to the strengthener bars. Its really strange!

Explain that in more detail.
The vertical bolts should come up into the rear member just behind the bumper. You need to drill through the underside of the rear members and cut through the rear panel to fit the longitudinal pieces.
Don't forget to reseal the rear panel to stop water and fumes ingress.

Ah I See, so I have to cut the car with grinder or something to insert the two longitudinal bits? I have drilled the vertical holes but they are inside the cavity of the rear members of the car so have no way of fixing the bolts to the vertical bars. Sorry if I am sounding stupid!

Many thanks for your help.

Is it possible that the car has an AMG bodykit fitted, can you post a picture of your car?

It's not about the bodykit...but where to cut and drill the metal chassis legs. AMGs don't have tow bars because they were not type approved for them.

I suggest you cut nothing...you will weaken the car.

Cant you take it to a specialist and see what they say?

Tony.
