Is there a recommended procedure for cleaning the engine bay and engine?

Thanks Adam for a good guide. I do like a clean engine - just haven't seen one under my bonnet for a long time. I have always used a bucket and a sponger or mild degreaser but now I have more knowledge thanks to you

Steam Cleaning best

Steam cleaning works well when the item to be cleaned is out of the car. Steam cleaners can strip paint quicker than paint stripper (when used incorrectly).
Solvent based cleaners work well but usually leave a smelly area where the cleaning took place, Citrus based cleaners smell better but can be hard work when cleaning oily gunged up engines etc.

Hi

We have recently completed the pictures for a step by step guide as to how to clean your Mercedes engine. The process has been designed for the "home enthusiast" using regular equipment and not any expensive specialist equipment that we use normally use. The write up will be up soon for the members to see with all the images.

it's a really really easy four step system

1. drive to your local tesco or asda or shopping centre.

2. find the group of eastern european men who clean cars for money.

3. pay money

4. sit back and relax.

Hahaha! There are a load where I work, £7 wash and full wax! Bargain! I wouldn't let them touch mine that's for sure! They use no more than a bucket of water through the entire cleaning process! They use one sponge and one towel which they wipe the car down with then wax with!

still would be nice to see some before and after pics if you have some Adam :)
