Hi All,

first MB, C320 CDI auto.

when in manual shift , i cannot get above just over ~4000 RPM, allways shifts before i want it to.

is this normal ? :dk:

Irritates me as well, if it's manual it flaming well ought to be manual not automatic, if it's over revved then cut the fuel to the injectors not implement a change, leave the decision to the driver that's what manual means. Same with changing up if I want to do 800rpm I don't want the gear change blocked!

IIRC the AMG version of manual mode does hold the gear at max revs until changed by the driver. Also allows throttle lift-off without and down shift whilst at 'high' revs..

In my SL (petrol of course) if I have selected, say, 2nd it does not change up until it hits the 6000rpm band and again 3rd to 4th.....
Is the feature the OP refers to a diesel only irritant?

Mic

What is the point of holding the revs higher than 4,000rpm on a Cdi, it will just accelerate more slowly and make more noise.

Change up and Go..
