Issues with Police BMWs

Ah, the Calibra. There was a pretty car. Such a shame it was no more special than a Cavalier in disguise......

I recall that a Cavalier SRI was a decent enough car.
I ran a 2litre petrol MK3 Cavalier Diplomat for 5 years. Not the most dynamic vehicle in the world but well built, quick enough and comfortable on my semi regular trips to Edinburgh and back.
And mine, with an auto box with "snow mode" setting once managed to extract itself from an incredibly muddy car park at Brands Hatch after a typical summer BTCC meet (hissing down all day), without needing a tow from a Landy.

Hi , late to pass comment but where I live in Portugal I saw a few months ago a moped with blue lights flashing , trying to catch the lawn mower car.

I promise it true

I was lucky that I never had to run a Vauxhall as a company car!

Incidentally, Volvo plastic inlet manifolds also melted for the same reason as the BMW ones.

I wonder how many euros the bean counters at BMW saved speccing a plastic inlet manifold?

Planned obsolescence seems to be the order of the day at the Bavarian Motor Works. And would sir like his timing chain at the front or the back of the engine?
Plastic manifolds have been used for years. A 104 engine from the 90's (6cyl straight six) had one. Its more of a composite really.
