over the past few weeks i've started to get some rust bubbles on the front arches, and yesterday, whilst the car was being cleaned and waxed, two of the bubbles "burst".

is it worth taking it to my local MB stealer? or should i just get these re-sprayed?

Ive also found 2 brand new, unpainted wings, would it be easier to buy them?

its a 2001 "X" reg with 80000 on the clock in obsidian black (i think)

I doubt the dealer will entertain any claim, goodwill or otherwise, the car is over 8 years old.

Better to find yourself a good independant bodyshop and get them to sort it. If the rust is minor they should be able to grind it off so you can re-use the existing wings.

Are you intending to keep the car for a while?

i plan on keeping it for at least 6 months - 1 year. At the moment there is no other rust (there was some on a rear arch, but when the car was involved in an accident this got replaced with a whole new part)

ok cool, thanks for the advice, i'll get in touch with a local body shop and see if i can get the little bits sorted.

If it were me I'd have them professionally touched up just before selling.

If you do it now, it may reappear in 9 months time then you'd be no better off than before, but just a little poorer.

Dont just leave it untreated, if you really dont want to pay for a paint job immediately then put some wax or grease on.
