MD5, no boot mods, just the cd changer is floor mounted to the side, but the wind deflector fits in perfectly even with the cd changer fitted.. its the original 3 way folding unit, not the 2 way clone!

£35k is alot of cash, has it got full MB service history?

no it does not have full mb service history.

some say it affects value, and thats fine, im a firm believer that independants can do just as good if not better job, and if one thinks this devalues the car, then so be it, but all my cars have ad first few services in dealer, then always a specialist!

Wow. 35k.

Seriously...35k...and it's green.

35k...and three crappy photos.

Here's a much nicer one with a reserve under 10k.

Mercedes E320 convertible Sportline Final Edition 96 N on eBay, also, Mercedes-Benz, Classic Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 08-Jun-09 10:20:33 BST)

Is the low mileage really worth the extra 25k?

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks, sure, nice combo, it resembles what P.diddy had in one of his music videos, however, mainstream, even i have thought about buying this car as i love the Ruby colour.

However, to some, not all, but some,, mileage is all too important. 100k is the norm, 50-60k is special, below 40k, and then we are into a different league i believe!

Premium wines have no price cap, same to certain cars, the w124 cabrio in particular too.

Based upon upper and lower benchmarks (private sale higher mileage cars, ultra-low mileage specialist dealers' cars) - I'd personally value the car in question at around £20k max, that's if you specifically want one in green with the pre-facelift styling from a private seller without full MB service history and with no warranty?

It's a lovely car, and we're all in no doubt of that - but why continue to try and justify the price when clearly there's no one out there willing to pay it?

If you were after a car that met this criteria, or indeed had a specialist out there looking for one on your behalf, you'd definately be aware of this car - and that tells me that the market whom you're pitching this car at are unwilling to pay your asking price, therefore it's clearly and unarguably overpriced (and by quite some margin - £10k+)

If you've been offered £25k, I'd rip their arm off.

All IMHO and not intended to offend.

Will

Edit to ad - best of luck with the sale and I'm sure we'd all love to know what it finally fetches :)

Excuse me for sounding a bit thick but what's the difference between a 'Heritage Grille' and a 'pre facelift' one.

Absolutly nothing!

I prefer the older grills, its my own way of defining the difference between the face lift plastic and the pre facelift heritage since the early 1900's, which is where the heritage aspect comes into it

The new recessed plastic grills are tacky, clk, slk, s, e, c etc etc..

the pre 1993 cars all are heritage.. ie Bill33's red w124 coupe is a heritage grill!

some may think it sounds better than what it is, but its my own adjective choice that i made om describing it!

hope that is ok? :)

What you believe and what is 'real' is reflected quite graphically in two points

1, your car is over priced

2, you haven't sold it despite mentioning it in nearly every post

'Heritage Grille' = old shape (I assume).

Also features rare 'Heritage Price'

'Heritage Price' = what they cost used 9 years ago (with FMBSH!)....

Thanks Will.

No urge or Rush to sell..

like my number plates, some are priced extortionately high.. but one day, it might sell..

same with car..

historically, i think i will be fine as i have no outstanding commitments to the car, but lets see.. i have only started marketing this car now, and im not going to give it to a dealer as their prices generally are low, but hence when you come to a world with no limits, emotion and heart can rule the mind, and then thats where the deep Love affair will begin :)

Hey I've got a heritage grille on mine, that's bumped its resale up about £23.5k ;)

I'm waiting for this car to turn around 124 prices so I can sell mine at a profit and buy a modern, soulless 211 with sensible MPG and working cruise control.

Ade :D

so you made up the term 'heritage'

just for the benefit of all those here........what is the difference between the plastic inserts fitted to your 'heritage' grille and the plastic inserts fitted to the facelift grille?

Good question, lol

As i mentioned in my previous posts the look of the pre facelifts appeal more and the ADJECTIVE "Heritage" refers to the style of merc grills since the beginning.. ie its heritage, whilst new styles are too .. well puuuny.

In all seriousness, the new grills, or atleast faceltf w124 grills, i cant confirm, but atleast to the touch, feel

1. MORE FLIMSY
2. THINNER
3. BRITTLE.

would be nice to confirm if this is true or not, as stated, this is purely on touch, feel and experience... but i could be wrong, but just my observations!

I must say that I'm particularly fond of the heritage grille on my '91 300TE.

So much so that I treated it to a new insert from Nick, for a tenner! :thumb:

It's not the lowest mileage estate around, but I tell you - for £320.00 it's been as good as gold.

I bet you when I sell it I'll have no trouble getting my money back :D

Yeah I see your point regarding indi's doing a better job, but really you've scrimped on servicing havent you?

Things like full MBSH and main dealer stamps are the difference between a 35k and 12k car, and I think this is where your pricing falls down.

Have you tried listing it on the continent? I know alot of collectable porsches got snapped up by German buyers this year (namely 964 rs's) due to the euro, may widen your customer base?

Making up a term is not fair.

I say that as I am allowed to use any adjective (for those who do not know what an adjective is, look it up) i like.

Heritage grill is NOT a made up word, but a CHOSEN word that I, myself (thats me by the way) have CHOSEN, in preference to OTHER words, that I feel describe the grill.

My underwear are CK contemporary.. anyone want to question my choice of word.. lol

enjoy your eve.. i have a court case in the morning, so must deal with paper work..

Time to sue my old insurers lol.. bring in the money!

For those unlucky enough to not own a heritage W124, I offer salvation with my Heritage W124 (TM) conversion kits to make your later model W124 look like an old one.

I've heard that Heritage W124 (TM) command a considerable price (5x) over lesser facelift models, so consider my kit to be an investment.

I can also arrange to have your car painted in the most desirable of dull green colours to add even more value.

Usual forum discounts apply.

Vegas had the worlds largest classic car show at start of May, so had some feedback there.. got some contacts in Cannes, Nice and Geneva, so i will persue those in the coming months.

Work is busy at present, so haven had much time!

Personal opinions always welcome, but please refrain from insult.

Insult being (i have not once stated pre facelift is a "lesser" grill) - just my preference.

I do not insult anyone, and where i have, i will (in advance) apologise.

Cool, I think we all wish you best of luck with the sale, but people here know their onions and your pricing is incredibly optimistic, especially in a recession.

What did you pay for it?
