Just had the diesel chipped!

I'm sure that with the volume of cars that have passed through Superchips doors in the past 20 years that if EGT was a massive issue then they wouldn't still be in business.

Tuners do try and make sure that their product does not adversely affect the longevity of the car and things like EGT are monitored when the chip is developed to make sure it doesn't exceed sensible limits.

I think you do have a warranty from Superchips too.

After a few hundred miles of driving, all i can saw is WOW!!

Those of you that are familiar with with the C250 will know that in W mode the car is sluggish as it pulls away in 2nd gear. After the chip the car pulls away strongly in 2nd gear! By 1500 revs its pushing you back, no longer need to kick it down to 1st gear when i'm pulling out at roundabouts etc!

The mid range torque is unbelievable! At 70mph it pulls alot stronger in 5th gear! It no longer kicks down to 4th on acceleration at that speed either.

I have tried kickdown, it doesn't smoke ecxessively either!

Now with regards to fuel economy, i don't think its made it worse! I will know on Saturday when i refill the tank but to be honest it looks like its giving me the same average, maybe a bit better!

And i can finally pop wheelspins!!:bannana: :D

Don't really understand why i need one? Could the chip cause a potential prob?

maybe.

Possible coking of the cat, overheating of the turbo and exhaust manifold, worst case senario melted pistons.

I'm sure it will be Ok but a gauge would be a good idea.

Tip. The more air you can get into and out of the engine the lower the egt will be for a given fuelling.

Glad to hear you are pleased with it, amazing what a difference it makes to an already good engine.

As you know I ran mine Superchipped for 18 months or so without a hiccup apart from a faulty MAP sensor (Manifold Pressure Sensor) nothing to do with the Superchip. In fact the MAP sensor went within the first few laps at Bruntingthorpe and it went into limp mode yet it still went very well.:D

Just enjoy it and don't worry, (mind you, did you get the Supercips warranty with your special deal?), nah, nothing to worry about.

I plan to enjoy it! I've known the local superchips chap for 3 years now, he said 2 year warranty on it, but he's never had a problem with any of them yet.

I love that extra pulling power! Cheers for all the advice and info!

Apologies for ressurrecting an old thread but I'm curious about chipping a C250TD.

I've not got one at the moment but am considering one.

My last current and previous diesels (BMW and Audi) have been recent direct injection engines with ECU's that can be re-mapped easily via the OBD-2 port.

From what I've read on here this isn't the case with this model and you're looking at an physically swapping out a chip.

I did this some years ago on my S13 200SX where it was just a 27C128 EEPROM.

Superchips website quote £499 to chip it which seems steep on a car that could be picked up for £2000 to £3000 (up to 1/4 the value of the car!)

With other cars that can be chipped in a similar way to my old S13 200SX you could buy chips cheaply from eBay etc.

Does anyone know if this is the case for the C250TD???

Anyone who had one Superchipped actually watch them do the work?

Yes, you'll need a new chip. I paid approx 200-300 if i remeber correctly. It was done by Superchips and i did see the work being done. Fiddly job, took about 3 hours.

There is a significant increase in power, it makes the car alot more driveable.

I've had a Van Aaken tuning box on my w210 E320 CDI for around 4 years and 40,000 miles now and its excellent , economy went up by 1mpg :) but the car sits nicer at motorways speeds , its certainly quicker to 60mph as well.

Its been a worthwhile mod
