Just picked up my C55 AMG

AMGeed thanks for a tip about the oil, just ordered some for my new baby.
By the way hello to all C55 owners!!!

It only needed 0.5litres, wasn't on perfectly flat ground when checked, silly me.

Slowly getting used to having an auto. Im finding im leaving it in C most of the time. Ive tried S a few times and it barely seemed to change gear, it went almost to the redline with heavy right foot. M mode is a little slower than I was expecting, but good fun.

Im into my mountain biking and ive got a thule tow-bar rack. Are there any tow-bars I can buy for the car that will accommodate my rack. Most im seeing are genuine tow-bars with a towing eye.

Hey all managed to get a few things done, now ive had the car a few weeks.

-Got a CLK grille fitted, and flat bonnet badge
-5.5 AMG side badges
-Painted rear hubs with black hammerite,
-Fitted locking wheel nuts
-New wiper blades
-Removed wheels, put copper grease on back of wheels. (was recommended to do this at MB)
-Sorted sticking handbrake. Easy enough fix, as mentioned above, im afraid I completely forgot to take pics for a guide.

Still to do:
-Re-paint rear brake calipers silver
-Fit 2 new rear tyres and get tracking done
-Sort headlights
-New numberplates and secure them correctly
-Dam good clean and polish

Ill give it a clean and take some pics ASAP, thanks for reading.

Welcome to another C55 owner. Ive had mine for a while now you want to get your secondary cats and centre silencer removed to make more noise. Its not intrusive at all and sounds fantastic. My car has been taken to the next extreme and is a tad on the loud side so I'm going to go back to the above setup!

I've done a fair few mods on mine like C63 paddles, grille, wheels, carbon diffuser etc....

You can get a gearbox map to speed up the shifts. I am looking to get mine remapped at some point and a few other mods hopefully this year.

Few pics of mine.

Great looking example of C55.
I love your paddles!!! where did you get them from?
I would love to release some more noise and improve speed of gearbox as it feels sluggish.
Any recommendations on people who are best with exhaust and gearbox mods?
Cheers

Mercedes they are approx £120 you have to modify the wheel a little to get them to fit. I'm planning to take mine to MSL once I've fitted a new kitchen at home lol

Hehehe I can imagine the difference. The GTR is dual clutch is it not?

Im more than happy with it in S mode. Its sometimes fun using the paddles, but its a shame there so slow. Ive read the software remap makes it 8% quicker, that really doesn't seem much of a difference.

Yes. Breathtaking piece of kit. There is no discernable let up in acceleration as you pull the up shift. Gear changes are damn quick. Feels like instant. Must stop thinking about one.........

Lovely. Its just a shame there so heavy.

Couple of suggestions...

Just done my headlights with 1200 grit wet and dry with lots of soapy water to take off the knackered coating then 2500 grit, also lots of water. Finish with an acrylic polish, I used a tube of Xerapol and a clean cloth. All by hand, no drill things used (well I started to but was a waste of time for me) but did use duct tape to protect surrounding paint.

I was worried about having sanded off the factory UV coating so I got some Ventureshield sheet off Amazon and have applied that after degreasing with AMF cleaner and yes lots more soapy water, the glue also makes it all shiny again, forgiving the slightly hazy look. Squeegee and dry, a bit of a PITA but hopefully that's it for a few years :)

Also had a transmission fluid change by Terry at Wayne Gates in Harrow, made a significant difference to the drive and peace of mind. Definitely an expert there, now tempted with a Quaife LSD....

Sounds good. Any pics? Ill be tackling the headlights very soon hopefully. Today ive had all the rear trim out from the boot, and given everything a good clean, and removed the plastic around the boot edges, half an inch of mud and crud was there. Also sprayed the wipers satin black as they were rusting a bit.

Still want to paint the calipers and do the headlights, and then im pretty much sorted.

Got 4 new tyres to go on hopefully this week, just gotta sort an oil leak out. Pretty sure its the valve cover gaskets. :(
