Kitchen refurb

Are the carcases shot/need to be changed? do you need to reorganise the kitchen layout?

If the answer to that is no, it will be much much cheaper to just change the doors/handles etc, convert doors to drawers etc?

Lots of companies out there that do that.

e.g. Replacement Kitchen Doors & Kitchen Drawer Fronts | Kitchen Magic I have no affiliation to this company, just an example, google finds lots like this

Only the sink unit is shot, misius dismissed doors only replacment, has to be new layout..

I think Bosch, Neff and Siemens are different ranges of the same group. Our Neff washer dryer has developed a fault with the dryer and had another fault with a control unit. The technician said that particular model was made by Smeg and isn't reliable.

We've had no problems with our AEG and Zanussi stuff in about 9 years. If I thought we were going to live in a particular house forever I might consider Miele otherwise I tend to get very good deals on decent makes and models which I could probably replace at least two and probably three times for the price of Miele.

Ordered Bosch dishwasher from Curries,Miele is more expensive trying to keep the cost low.Stared decimating the old one

My 2 year old Smeg dishwasher is currently awaiting the repair man. The previous Hotpoint dishwasher only lasted until its 5 year warranty period expired. :(

I recently bought a direct drive LG washing machine. Purchased due an open plan setup meant noise reduction was a priority and damn this thing is quiet. I hope this is a sign of a quality construction but only time will tell.

We purchased a smeg dishwasher 3 years ago and although it has not let us down it definitely looks better than it cleans.

Yes, we had that issue before realising that if you buy the all in one tablets, you don't need rinse aid or salt. A short wash also cleans glasses better than a long wash.

BEKO stuff is good stuff.

My fridge freezer is a BEKO , bought when we moved in twelve years ago , as it was all we could afford at the time. Been great , A rated works a treat.

We also have a BEKO condensing dryer , and that is great too. No grumbles from me.

In actual fact , our fridge was one of the ones with an iffy thermostat , BEKO came and changed it foc ten years down the line. :thumb:

We have a BEKO fridge freezer being delivered on Thursday, 201cm tall, £299 from John Lewis.

Not heard any bad things about them, mostly people like you who say "Had one 10 years, its been great".

Hope you have better luck with BEKO than we did with our washing machine of the same make, dumped it after 18 Months at the council tip, stood it next to Two other BEKO machines

SMUG CS are the spawn of the devil. Second only to Origin, who, when I complained about a faulty b2 told me to F$$k off.

Would never but SMUG again.

Quite, a triumph of Form over Function. I'm looking at Fisher & Paykel stuff. I hope that's not the same.

Our dishwasher is 52 years old ;-)

Sent from my iPhone using MBClub UK

So how often have you had to replace the items subject to wear and tear (rubber gloves);)

We have had an LG washing machine for 7.5 years. Still going (touch wood) with 3 adults and 4 kids.

Once a month, put some soda crystals in the main and pre-wash drawers and do a 95C wash. This cleans out any fabric conditioner or washing powder / liquid residue from the waste pipe.

I just fitted a whole new kitchen, ground up; inlcuding all electrics, plumbing, floor, lighting, new layout.

I bought a wickes kitchen, the units only. Feels like a lot of money for a load of MDF and chip board... but it goes together fine and looks pretty good.
I got the handles from Ikea, appliances from AO and BestBuy.
Solid Walnut worktops from Topworktops.co.uk.

The trickiest things were fitting the integrated fridge freezer, and making the units fit the length of the room. Fridge freezer: Make sure the unit is absolutely dead plumb and square before you fit it to the wall, then fix to the wall ensuring you don't twist it. Then fit the fridge into into it.
I had to cut a wall unit in half to get a full run of units to meet onto a corner unit. Pain in the backside but worth it.

I also had a nightmare fitting 2 corner units either side of the oven to create a 'J' shape. Don't think everything is designed to bolt to each other. A lot, a LOT of cutting and shutting, and making things fit and careful measuring and plenty of patience was required.

I allowed a week plus 2 weekends to install the units, worktops, appliances, etc. All the electrics, gas and plumbing first fix were done. It took me another 4-5 days on top of that, including cutting and fitting the worktops.

Enjoy!
