Kleemann Supercharger for ML55

FYI all, Rotrex UK don't offer their S/C for Mercedes cars. Fitting would require lots of fabrication and would eventually cost x2 fitted Kleemann price.

RE: gearboxes etc. Kleemann people say they converted about 2 - 3,000 MLs to date with no known issues.

I hope whoever told you that wasn't just trying to market it to you, because most supercharged V8's would at least have an uprated torque converter, as well as a remap to allow it to deal with the extra torque & power.

On a side note, i think the price you've quoted sounds about right, because when i was enquiring about slotting an E55 supercharger in place of the C230K supercharger on the 230k, they were going to do it for a bit more than that, but almost the same figure. I would've had to source the E55 supercharger & intercooler though, they said they could fabricate the piping if necessary.

But they put me off because they said the engine would probably require another injector and the internals may not be able to handle it and that they hadn't tried it before on that particular engine, come to think of it now i regret not taking the plunge... would've been something unique :).

ECU remap is parts of the deal. Plus, there's no fabrication or extra parts req'd, not even a bigger fuel pump (fuel controlled electronically). Bolt on system, designed to work with '55 engine and brushed up over the years. But yeah, marketing BS aside, I guess I will have to try and see.

From memory I think the NA 55's come with the same transmission as the 55Ks, and rated to transmit the same amount of torque.

Thanks Bobby, that's good to know. Local MB dealership offered to fit the compressor, quoting 25 hours. Birds are close @ 29 hours and actually some experience of fitting the Kleemann S/C. Still some quotes to come.

Exciting!! I don't think we've had a Kleemann supercharged AMG on this forum!!

Make sure you keep us up to date with progress. Who's fitting it?

Will upload pics no problem. Not sure yet on fitting though.

S/C shipped from factory. Should be here any day now. Pics to follow.

Who is fitting it in the end?

I thought the E55 AMG (W211) car in pic say's V8 AMG!! already had a supercharger? has he changed supercharger to a Kleemann (expensive mod), can understand changing headers and cats etc. Didn't Scorcher (previous member) fit headers etc to his Black beast - E55.

dude thats a 210.....

Hey folks

Drove my ML today back from CPR after 6 day supercharger installation and custom ECU remap. They managed to get 455 HP at a flywheel v. 342 HP N/A stock. A little less than 470 HP I was hoping to get but close enough. Not sure how 500 HP originally quoted by Kleemann are achievable without changing the entire exhaust system. Still extremely happy as car feels and drives totally different now!

Here's couple of pics.

Came across this American S/C manufacturer. Never heard of them before but seems like they specialise on supercharging Mercedes cars. Gains of up to 100 horsepower and 100 ft-lbs of torque. Kits are bolt-on as far as I understood. Here:

High Performance Systems

ok....
so, a few months on, how is it?
i have one of these and love it, and the diff in price between what a good ML55 can achieve in a sale opposed to what a good, used ML63 costs, makes this seem appealing.
Have you any real performance figures to compare, what was the total outlay, and has anything went wrong / needed upgraded since?
And finally.... would you do it all over again?:dk:

Are you kidding?!! The thing is amazing!! Seriously, I absolutely love it. :D

Exactly my thoughts, except I was coming from ML320 and considered between ML55 and ML63. The difference in price was big enough for me to justify the supercharging, full respray, new floor and alcantara headliner, 2 new sets of BRABUS wheels (20" and 22"), new calipers all round (old all rusted away) and performance Supersprint exhaust (coming from Italy any day now). Basically, I now enjoy fully restored, showroom condition car, albeit in older body.

I didn't dyno the N/A ML, but I drove her for about 3 month before supercharging. With 42K miles on the clock I doubt she had lost any ponnies. N/A ML55 has plenty of torque to start with, but being supercharged it's a whole new [ML] world. Kleemann s/c comes as a bolt-on kit with all parts and step-by-step instruction manual included (can email a copy). The only fabrication made by CPR was a bracket for intercooler in the front. Nothing went wrong so far (touching wood). It is "just forced air induction, which is a pretty straightforward mod", as I was told. Superchargers have been in the auto market forever and Kleemann have done a few thousands of them specifically for our cars.

Money wise, s/c price is on the Kleemann website with installation costing me around £2.5K. I also opted for custom ECU flash (+£1.5K).

And finally.... would you do it all over again?

Sure, I would! Our ML is an ultimate all-rounder that, unlike other 55's AMG, didn't get a 100 HP boost from AMG in 2003. In fact, they decided to retire it. Shame really, as unlike overwhelming majority of SUV's today being an absolute boredom to drive, AMG ML is just pure fun. Luckily, Kleemann s/c gives that extra kick it was lacking in performance department, making it overall a very good value for money car, even by today's standards.

Good to hear you went through with it and that its gone well! very well done

Hi, I like what I have read so far!
I'm thinking of taking the plunge with my ML63...2007 with 55kmiles on the clock.
Supercharger
ECU
Exhaust
Wheels maybe (as already have a set of 22")
Lowering
Some interior work

Would appreciate pointers... I have contacted Kleemann HQ... figured I'd just drop the car off and see ...
