Know of any deals on oil at moment? (229.31)

The Costco Mobil-1 oil for £23 for 4L is 229.5, it is NOT the low ash 229.x1 that is needed for cars with particulate filters.

You need Mobil-1 ESP (Emission System Protection) for that. I've never seen it at discounted prices anywhere.

How necessary this is, I don't know. There have been comments that even MB dealers don't seem aware of the .x1 requirement and are using normal oils.

Was in Costco the other day and I noticed they've added Mobil1 Turbo Diesel - still only 229.5 though (I've seen it stated that both versions of Mobil 1 are actually the same oil, so 229.5 makes sense). It was same price (£23.50 for 4L).

I also happened to go to Makro and they've started selling Castrol Edge and the Turbo Diesel version. In that case the diesel version is marked as being 229.31. However the petrol version is 229.5. However oil is a lot dearer there - it was over £40 inc VAT (4L).
