Hi
ok I've come back to this again!! car has gone to Andy at PCD for various work including the supercharger pulley and remap... however without getting bogged down with the various mods being done... if both the larger crankshaft pulley and impending fitting of smaller supercharger pulley cant be run together without other issues i.e. over boosting etc. etc. ..... which is better.... mainly for torque overall BHP? don't know what outcome is going to be yet as Andy will be doing a lot of calculations etc. BUT I just want to have some basic feed back from some of you.... mainly SAVMAN who kindly gave me a detailed overview of potential options on the E55. anyway which is overall preferred choice if you could only have one or the other?

Seems to me that most avoid the crank pulley and stick with the supercharger pulley as the better and easier mod.

The only thing to add is the cooling for these things as the temperatures generated increase quite a bit the more aggressive you go.

The other option is to wait till the FSP is sorted and Eurocharge have the remap sorted out, but you would need to be watching IAT's all the time with this system as the supercharger is on all the time. (no safety)

Thanks for responding... Unsual as crankshaft pulley has been uprated with larger unit with modified pump and heat exchanger... But this surely would have been more costly than super charger pulley and remap? Anyway waiting patiently from feedback from PCD...

This may help you decide.

great one... very helpful!!

Hi Ginger that's right I think... I was going to get the super charger pulley done now but problems might occur with over boosting... I don't want to pay £800 for supercharger pulley and remap and then find that due to over boosting I need to spend further £££'s and Andy has said after doing certain calculations he can see best way to go.... it was even suggested worst case scenario was to get original crank put back and then get the supercharger pulley and remap done... something I probably wont do and would rather just stick with the crank I have now... as it really rockets (as most do anyway!!) but will get the gearbox remap and engine remap (done again.... has a map done but not sure by whom etc.)... I should know in next day or so what way I am going and will update forum

yes thanks sav man... Andy should have some feedback tomorrow.. would love to have both mods running together but I've spent a few thousand so far getting bits sorted and remedying already present mods. and this is since getting car only in July.. make my day if possible just to get the supercharger mod and remap done without considering further cooling, injectors etc. because of the larger crank... anyway at least I have some food for thought from you guys on here

If you didn't see this thread,
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/amg-performance-lounge/160285-55k-cooling-upgrade.html

Its really important you have the cooling sorted, you may even with HE upgrade find your struggling with temps now, as you already have the larger crank pulley, have you done any data logging of IAT's?

Mines still in the testing stage but if successful we should be able to increase to the more aggressive mods if needed.

And as savman has said think engineering, there is only so far you can mod and most of the problems stall at the cooling stage.

I would be interested to see how you get on with the TCU map, whilst my own car is further modified, I have been troubled by two EC TCU maps at this time, am not losing sleep over it, but both different issues from one map to the other. Anyone else having shifting issues since TCU mapping on an E55, ???? have mentioned this to Sav in general conversation, but just a matter of getting my car up there so as he can look at it, but would be interested to hear if anyone else suffering same such problems after TCU map.

Kalvin,

The other way of looking at it is:
" if it ain't broke"
Me i would leave your system as is and start data logging, remember messing with MAPS either engine or gearbox can and does carry risks.

You are already running higher boost, spending money on cooling does not sound sexy though does it, and it amazes me the number of people driving around thinking they are getting the max from there car when actually its cooking and retarding timing or as i have experienced the dreaded supercharger clutch disengage.

The colder you get it the more horses are released, i may add the ones you have already paid for.

yes thanks and appreciate your thoughts/ knowledge.... but problem is something takes over... and I was never like this in my earlier days and now in my 40's cant explain to myself or my wife why I 'need' these mods ;)) but on this occasion wont be too disappointed if the costs out way the actual necessity and will finally close the matter/ option for me. As I email now, Andy has data logged it and going over the figures now

It happened to me at 50:D i seem to get more childish, definitely laugh a lot at WOT.
