Least impressive selling point!

Airbag warning light stays on (I think it's a fault with the light rather than the airbag)

Additional bit not included in previous listing. It is a category C (accident damage) car. I never noticed this last time round because I never looked at the documents – a friend gave me this car in return for some work I did for him so it wasn’t a normal kind of sale.
(From a live Ebay ad - same as the one above)

I’ve been car browsing since before AutoMart was invented and I dread to think of how many descriptions I’ve read in that time.

Many attributes are trumpeted - that’s what it’s all about, after all.

It’s mostly older Merc’s I buy and there’s many a mention of the original First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle, supplying Dealer Number Plate/Sticker, etc, etc, in attempt to turn the buyers head.

Earlier today I saw an Ebay listing with a selling point as the parcel shelf as being in excellent order, that’s a first, but for me it’s just pipped by this one:

Mercedes Benz 250 DIESEL automatic 1991, Mot and tax, white, retro wedding car ! | eBay

What’s the least interesting asset members have seen in a futile seduction ploy?

Cheers,

Paul

That's my old car - the ashtray light works 'cos I fixed it!

(red fuse on the cluster!)

ABS/Airbag/Brake light on cluster, just needs a reset is one that gets to me.

Similarly the "very cheap to fix this, I was quoted £20 for it"... if it was so cheap, why didn't you get it done???

Original first aid boxes are funny.

Tinted front windows get to me as well. There was a pillarless I loved; but was tinted all round...

Silly lowered cars (I'm getting old!), fibreglass/putty body mods, are almost as bad as cars fitted with blinding HID headlights...

An image of the sodding Tax Disc!?!

An image of the sodding Tax Disc!?!

I like those - usually people hide license plates, but then show the tax disc! :p

I do prefer images of the V5 though, allows me to check MOT history online ;)

There were quite a few when I was looking for an SL, F1 spec with buttons instead of paddles, one was "fully Loaded" no pan roof, "no keyless go" and I bet there would be more ................................................. or less :wallbash:

Shamefully, one I've used twice now, truthfully and with success

"Spare wheel unused"

I promise never to let it happen again, unless.....

Recently I was helping a friend buy a C 220 CDI .We called at a dealer's and took a test drive (terrible). On returning to the showroom, the dealer said that the car had had a lot of work done to it . We asked to see the history. Dealer went to a printer and after a long wait, came back with approx 20 sheets recording the work done .He actually thought this would impress us and convince us to buy ! The car was less than 4 yrs old with 50K miles. Yet it had a new steering rack fitted, new suspension all round, a multitude of electric parts fitted etc etc. The dealer just could not understand why the service history was the least impressive selling point.

Gosh, on reading this thread I just found out I have a full and complete MB first aid pack! I don't think the previous seller realised otherwise it might have had...

***RARE***

...in the title of the ad!

Seriously though in no particular order:

Folk who put *RARE* in any sort of form in the ad title. Just because you haven't seen one. Also not cool to change out some simple parts for fakes then advertise as rare genuines! But cool you always have these parts unsold as everyone knows you do it.
Folk who will include any other word the ad isn't about (l"ike xxx, not xxx"), just so it shows up on any search possible!!! If I was looking for a VW, I wouldn't have put Citroen in the search would I!
"Mint condition", only needs "xx,xxx, xxxxx and xxxxxxxxx to complete" So not really mint is it?
"genuine copy", Is there such a thing?
"Will ship international, but not Scottish Highlands" -WTF, So Afghanistan OK on the list but not Inverness which is only 150 miles away???!!!
"genuine xxx car" -despite xxx never made one in the first place!
"non runner -but test run OK" EH?
"Currently no tax, MOT or Insurance but will happily take on a test drive on proof of insurance from prospective buyer" EH?
