I got My hand on a linguatronic Module for my 2006 ML , and need some help for parts needed to make the retrofit possible. I know I need to replace my existing steering wheel buttons .
I do have the UHI installed under the rear seat.
So what other parts are needed and what is the procedure ?
Do I connect the hands-free microphone group to the VCS unit?

Yes the microphones connect to the VCS controller AFAIK. You will also need power, wakeup and MOST fibre to loop it into the ring. The buttons for the wheel will be the most expensive parts to buy.

Thanks Alfie,
According to WIS Mic 1 and 3 goes to VCS, I know where to connect the wake up line and ground ,power goes to fuse 20 .
do you happened to know the part number of the connector for the VCS and MOST connector with the short fibre optic

Do you think Comand on line can supply me the necessairy harness, connector and fibre optic.
Thanks

OK , I'm getting somewhere now, I managed to get a nearly new steering wheel with buttons on Ebay for the price of one buttons unit from MB UK, fitted today.
I have the harness, F.optic and control unit and as soon as the weather get better I will finish the retrofit.

How does one activate Linguatronic

How does one activate Linguatronic in a W220 with MOST? It was originally built in by the factory but now shows as "not activated" in Comand.

Do I remove the back seat, unplug the linguatronic unit and then connect again after 10 seconds? Is that enough?

A guy at a MB garage told me it could be "poor power supplpy to the unit" and that he needs to check it with Star for one hour at £100+ ... and then MAYBE have a solution. Surely I can do something myself first?

It could have failed (the VCS unit in my car failed), but normally if that happens the phone system has no microphones, i.e no sound for remote end.

It does sadly sound like it needs to be diagnosed with Star. But, I would certainly try your solution first (unplug and connect again after 10 seconds)

It could also be that the ring order is wrong in the AGW so COMAND is ignoring it ..

Yes should fit but you can get the buttons for your wheel without having to get a whole new wheel.

Its far cheaper that way.
