i have measured the width &depth needed, two boxes for the dog&bird roughly 38 width&34 depth thats inches.
load space needed in a C or E class Estate

I would recommend you look at both vehicles and not pay to much heed to figures 
On paper the 211 rear space is larger than the older 210, but I dare anyone to tell my wife that 
If space or budget is not an issue the E-class would be my car of choice.

I would recommend you look at both vehicles and not pay to much heed to figures
I'd second that - I went around to various dealers with two guitars cases and a 4u rack. If it didn't fit flat on the floor with the tailgate shut, I wasn't interested.
It's amazing how much difference the rear backrest rake, wheel arch intrusion and the design of the tailgate makes.
