sometimes it takes 3 or 4 presses of the key to either unlock or lock the car with the IR remote, do you need to be fairly acurate where you point the key or is it an indication that the batteries are getting low?

If I hold the button down on the key I can see the red light come on

chances are the keyfob batteries are on their way out, cheap job u can do urself tho

The button had come off the circuit on mine, had to re solder it on. Also I've found it helps if I aim for the mirror, although I thought the door was meant to receive too.

Cheers guys, I'll check it out and change the batteries as a matter of course.

same thing happend to me, i changed the batteries but to be honest, it didnt make much of a difference. with the old batteries it would take several presses (from 2 or 3 feet away) to unlock the door. now with the new batteries it opens first time when i point towards the rear view mirror, but sometimes it does take a few presses of the button to lock/unlock it.
