My car has those annoying long wheel bolts that are double the length of a normal one so the chrome caps sit flush with the wheels

I have been looking for locking wheel bolts but I can only find short stem ones (Mercedes only sell these, McGuard, RAD etc are also short) and I have done a lot of internet digging and can only find short ones. The short ones are only about 60% as long as the originals so leave a very obvious "hole" in the wheel compared to the other wheel bolts

Does anyone know where I can buy locking long wheel bolts that better match the originals please ? I understand that these used to be available way back when, but I can't find any

Thanks

I wouldnt bother if i were you.

Even if you find locking wheel bolts like the ones you want, they will be non genuine and will give you agro when you are stuck at the side of the road somewhere and the lock key breaks off because its made in taiwan.

either:

- Change the bolts so that they are all normal length. This has the advantage of never risking seizing - breaking - ruining your day - maybe ruining your week.. (the long bolts have a habit of snaping on the colar)
- dont bother with locking wheel bolts, who is going to want to steal standard wheels?

Unless they are something special?

Thanks for your comments, I think your points are fair, and I am very close to doing nothing at all

My car has brand new tyres and also 5 just refurbished wheels by pristine wheels so whilst the risk fo theft is naturally low - I'd be about a grand to the bad if they were nicked

Locking wheel nuts are just about deterrence to me. Anyone serious can get hold of the kit to remove them if they really want to

I did wonder about putting in short ones all ways round and using the top mcguards which I believe to be the best locking bolts, but they just don't look right with such deep set bolts in

Its a marginal call

As a personal preference, I'd replace all the bolts with 'short' ones (including anti-theft). Having the bolt heads recessed within the wheels is a much more normal look IMHO.

Agreed - get rid of those long bolts before they ruin your wheels - when one breaks off. I have just chucked a whole set of the long head bolts in the skip.
And with the nice shiny wheels and new tyres I think I would get some locking nuts (decent ones) to deter the opportunistic layabout who thinks they could make an easy couple of hundred quid on ebay.
