Looking at purchasing a 2002 C Class Coupe 220CDI

Some reviewers have said that the coupe is less good to drive than the C class saloon. There are a lot more saloons around than Coupes as the coupe was a sort of cheaper entry model. And the specs are usually better.

I would strongly urge you to drive a C class saloon as well as driving a coupe and see which you like best.

What about a CLK even. Both the coupe, CLK and C class are the same platform, differences should be negligible.

Don't take my word for it but the cradel is bought for your model of phone and plugs into the adaptor in the arm rest. Not all cars will be prewired and have this.

Not all coupes have the sunroof. This is something I personally wouldn't have as it may weaken the rigidity making the car worse to drive and also it adds weight to the detriment of handling + reduces headroom.

CLK is a possible I agree and based on C Class platform. But very small in the back if that matters here and the ride is very hard IMO. Looks fabulous. Costs a lot more.
Best allrounder for someone wanting big MPG (well over 40mpg on a run) and a good drive for me is the C220cdi saloon.

I did 26,000 miles in the 2002 C class (petrol) and it was a really pleasant drive. Nowadays I would choose diesel both to drive and for economy.

you sure about reduces headroom i had the 55plate model without roof for a week before i got mine and for some reason it felt smaller

Conventional sunroof reduces headroom a lot. Don't know with panoramic. Personally once I have good air conditioning I find them all irrelevant.

its like a house with lots of windows and light it feels bigger just my opinion;)
Yes but it is nearly all behind your head and you want a screen over it or the sun on your head is uncomfortable and very distracting. Not my cup of tea, but some love them.

what does everyone think of the New Alfa GT and do you think they would be ok with 95K on the clock?

Apparently the new Alfa's are getting reliable?

They will certainly be a lot cheaper than a C-Coupe. For a reason! They do not have the best of reputations for longevity, but I cannot say if that still is actually the case.

The problem with Alfas seems to be finding a decent dealer.

Cheaper for a reason :bannana:

I have a C220CDI coupe. I just have this annoyance with the car, which feels like something is loose under the car or the tyre is out of shape, but I find it hard to believe I've had 3 out of shape tyres on the one corner of the car. Bar this niggle, I'd love the car. I don't have the panoramic roof, mega expensive if it fails. Do have leather and heated seats though.

Stealers and Indies say they can find nothing wrong. I also find the mpg a little disappointing too, but it's just had a B service, I'm taking it a little easier and I so far have had 340 miles at the 3/4 mark. I'll see what I fill up at, and then see how I get on with the next to work out mpg.

How would I find out the bhp of mine? It's a 54 plate, and I'm unsure whether it's a 143 or a 150bhp.

im sure at the Alfa owners club they will all say they are fantastic anyway lol!

Im torn between the two at the moment

All im looking for is a good looking car with decent MPG and they both fit the bill

Its a no brainer.

I'd pick MB over an Alfa any day.

The MB mark exudes class and style and is synonamous with exceptional build quality. :D

Bound to be a 150bhp.

However, I'd like to know the answer to this myself - how can you tell the difference?

Mine is a very early (20th April 2004) face lift 220CDi

Why would you buy an Alfa??

Just get a C Class !!!

:)
