Hello

Sat in car this morning waiting for wife.... and decided Ive never pressed the low range button so see what it does?...

I pressed the button and the LOW RANGE light on dashboard flashed a few times and that was is?

Is that what is supposed to happen? I though the light may stay on? I guess then the normal gears are dropped?

Will get the book out of the car to read up but given answers on here are pretty quick thought give it a bash first :)

thanks

Low range can ONLY be selected with the car stationary and in NEUTRAL.......the light will flash about 3 times and then stay on ....carry out the same procedure to return to normal range.

See...

Quicker than me going out for the manual. I never put in in N.... so never tried that.

Is it best to use it every now and again?

Thanks Panason1c

Yes, best to select/deselect low range every now and then....it keeps the electric stepper motor free.

The instructions should be on the underside of your central cubby lid, or behind the sun visor.

Best engage it once in a while as Panasonic suggested, and go for a little tootle.

Do you mean round the block/town speed only? What happens, does it feel/sound any different?

Yeah, just round the block.

The engine just revs more at any given road speed. For example it makes third gear feel like first.

I read once it was good practice to do it monthly. I usually forget, and rely upon opportunities of being off the asphalt (not serious off-roading though!!) to remind me. For example a bit of snow, caravan site, driving across a field.

...good to know, will give it a whirl...apologies to A210AMG for jumping on your post!

caravan :O

I will try it with the caravan,

Never even thought of using it on sites :) :)

Hope it works, I was a bit worried when it flashed and just went off. Tried it in D and then P and with foot on brake etc...

Will try it in N tomorrow.

thanks

S'great fun - great holidays for those with children especially.

Only time it wasn't fun was when a blooming seagull nicked the bacon I'd just cooked to perfection. No more bacon either.

I blame Glojo - I was in Torquay at the time, and the seagull appeared to have an aerial and fly in a similar fashion to a remote controlled helicopter. :D
