Lowest Temp seen this week?

-3 this morning in Dulwich. Water main has burst outside our office, no loo or more importantly tea or coffee, I was in meetings all day but assistant was sent to work from home.

Water main has also burst at the end of our childminder's street causing sheet ice and flooding...

1/2 our street (including our flat) had a power cut last night for about 4 hours..

I seem to remember many cold winters past, how come the wheels seem to be falling off round here?

Still praying..but oil has gone up again...:(

Anyone with a petrol got a 5p off Tesco voucher....:D

supermarket incentives don't count. they're unfair [ to my predicament ]and a distortion of the market
83.9 down the road [ a very fair price ]

It's been hovering around -2 overnight here and getting up to about 1 or 2 degrees in the day

Things we have learned

1, Goodyear F1's of are absolutely useless on the rear of an E55 when the temps are low :)

2, it's very useful having heated seats (we knew that already) and a rest function on the heater

3, did I mention just how bad those back tyres are?

4, As boring as it is, the Mondeo is far more practical

5, I have to go and buy some new back tyres tomorrow :)

Wow, that is seriously cold. When I drove to Skiathos last year (16 Jan) I drove through Switzerland and it wasn't even that cold there.

If I was back in the UK I would probably be looking at a very cold building site.

Over here it is a balmy 10C but it has chucked it down 24/7 since boxing day.Only this morning has the rain stopped and the sun came up over the western Aegean.

-10 early hours Tuesday at Malham Cove, followed by 3 inches of snow and -1 in the same area last night! It makes for interesting driving :D

-10 here in Prague and things are just the same as normal with people getting on with life.

Coldest I've seen was -27 (inch think layer of ice on the road) and people carried on as normal just with studded tyres and more clothes on!!

The problem is here that virtually no-one has any real experience of driving in snowy or icy conditions because our weather is so unpredictable. 1 cm of snow can bring the South East (southern softies) to a standstill

It's not taught as part of the test, you could book a "winter driving course" and end up doing it in a T shirt and shorts because of some freak weather system hitting the UK :)

When I lived in Nottingham and we had some decent snow fall, the Police used to open up one of the parks on a Sunday morning which had a large flat concrete area and put a load of cones out for people to practice their driving. They'd sit there in their cars and offer advice to anybody that asked and generally just join in the fun.

I learned a lot about driving on snow/ice through that and it's saved me on more than one occasion - it's a shame more forces don't do something like that

Now THAT his a very good idea from the local police, if only they were all like that!

Big station car parks are great for that at weekends. I used the Woking one (which is huge) several times.

I've only driven our Audi this week and have to say that apart from the one morning when there was actually snow on the roads I've not noticed any difference in grip or traction due to the low temps. Tyres are Avon ZV5.

-27 in Warwick last night when I suggested a romantic early night to Mrs Ted.

-8 at Tedders last night ....

The cut is completely frozen from the bridge to the lock , it is in shadow all day so isn't melting either , i would estimate the ice to be 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick ..

At 0530 this morning ....

Yesterday morning in Leatherhead I had -8 when I first started up. Dropped to -9 briefly in Cobham.

I saw -8.0 in London last night!
