If you work in certain parts of the car industry, there's a very good chance you will have been to Luton.

The parts I was in were based in sunny Milton Keynes!....so not too far from Luton.
Of course Luton Airport has this classy melody to forever remind us of it...

Bit draconian. Have you also banned phones and laptops.? Same tech. Turns out that vaping is dangerous for reasons of fire. See attached. Last paragraph gives some data on ICE and EV

"Recently there have been incidents of privately-owned e-scooters and e-unicycles catching fire whilst on TfL services or infrastructure. In response to these incidents, TfL has undertaken further work to review the safety of the vehicles and their suitability for carriage on the TfL transport network.

This review has found that the incidents that occurred were caused by defective lithium-ion batteries which ruptured without warning."

They're banned now, since 2021.

Did that as an experiment at the age of 12 didn't everyone ?

It was a big open tank of diesel and I'll say we weren't 100% confident of the result but yes the match went out. We learnt and lived which was nice.

Diesel is oil. It generally needs a 'wick' to ignite. Essentially it's a liquid candle. You can't ignite the wax in a candle without the wick.

I was in Bombay many moons ago and I remember filling up the taxi with a Marlboro on the go. Nobody batted an eyelid.

I posted a few years ago a photo taken at motorway services in the South of Italy, showing tables with ashtrays outside the coffee shop, just yards away from the pumps.

I worked in the office block above the Arndale Centre in Luton for some time in the mid '80s. I commuted by train from Hampton Court, which was fun.

Car was a JLR Special, an old fashioned smelly Diesel, the best JLR can di.

But EV are at fault

Oh woe indeed🤣🤣🤣

Someone should drop him an email and let him know.

Not so with EVs, every single malfunction or fire will be all over social media, the traditional press, and the subject of at least three 45 minute YouTube videos by a miserable Australian.

So why do we have 9 pages about Li-ion batteries.....???
because change is scary for some… similar people would have existed when the horse and cart was phased out… 😅
