A friend introduced me to the art of machine polishing this weekend to try and rectify the 3-months that a dealership owned my car before I got it.

And what a result - a random orbital polisher, some compound, a good polish and 6 hours later, this is what happened. It's gone and left a shine all over the paint :D

Looks stunning, I love the C63s in black

What did/will you use as a LSP/wax out of interest?

Now that.....is a nice car, looks 100% different from a normal C.
Colin.

I am amazed...not at the work done (all tho a well done for that) but the tailgating even on the drive!

They get everywhere don't they?:wallbash:

I need to find somewhere to wash and poilsh mine when the time comes.

Be careful if you feel the need to do it again as the paint can get to thin.
Love black but its the absolute worst colour to keep clean.

Looks like a BMW behind - no surprise there then?

Lol - I was at my friends' house who did the majority of the 'machining' bit - the BMW in the background is his car! Funnily enough I met him off the BMW forum!

It's funny you know - on the BMW forum you get the odd person who will always prefer the M3 etc over the C63 but on the whole, the C63 gets some very positive comments!

All I can say is...the 'other side' also make extremely good cars. I guess I'm lucky enough to owned both a new M3 and a C63 - they both have their own superior qualities! (But I DO prefer the C63 ;))

Thanks :thumb:

For the machine polishing I used Dodo Juice Lime Prime which has a very slight cutting action. This got rid of the swirls in the paint but mainly it just brought out the shine. It was topped off with Swissvax Best Of Show polish which is just incredible!

I used the Kestrel DAS-6 Dual Action Polisher...it's £79.99 from the following link.

I didn't use any form of abrasive pad on it at all as there weren't too many deep swirls - just a final finishing pad with some Dodo Juice Lime Prime which has a very slight abrasive action got rid of most of the surface swirls.

If the paintwork has any major swirls or marks you would need a polishing pad first as the finishing pad is not abrasive enough on the lacquer.

The above website has all the equipment you could ever need with loads of advice.
