After retiring the Maybach luxury car brand, Daimler plans to make a successor to its 600 Pullman model. However, the new version will be under the Mercedes-Benz banner in its S-Class line of cars.

The news was fueled by the recent spy shots that Autoblog featured last Friday. Based on the pictures of the camouflaged S-Class car, the new model will be longer than its predecessors and it will be featuring a massive set of rear doors to make room for a more spacious back passenger section.
Based on the source, the new car will make use of the brand’s dual-turbocharged V12 engines. A hybrid version is also rumored to be offered as well by the automaker.

S-Class Extra LWB & Pullman Spy Shots

1st time spied. The final version will have a different grill/front end than the standard W222, will have a nicer interior than the standard S (is that even possible?) and is a replacement for the Maybach brand.

Now that's a proper chauffeuring motor .........

It might be the absence of brightwork, but I find that looks nondescript compared to the excellent new S class. If you stretch something you need to bulk it out to give it proportions.

Might even be some brightwork on that hidden C pillar aswell.

More shots. It turns out this actually isnt the Pullman, but an extra long wheelbase model:

Killerhertz is right in saying that this is the replacement for the Maybach brand, but i agree with you on both the Maybach and this new XL S-class that both are not proportioned correctly.

To me personally, it was always the wheels that looked too piddly on these, definitely needs some bigger and wider rims.

Looks like the new s class

I think it looks just like the Maybach. In fact, the Maybach looks better to me.

That is a lot better looking than the previous Maybach.

You know, I've always thought to myself, there's only one thing the S Class could do with more of. More rear leg room! ;-)
There's obviously a market, but it's not the uk!
SWB has dominated sales of the W220 and W221.
