MB Audio 10 CD Player. I can play normal audio CD's perfectly fine.. By this i mean retail CD's that are bought from a shop.

However when i burn a CD on my laptop.. Its horrible! Will barley play! Starts on track 1 and takes minutes to read the disc (you can hear it making noise) then it will play through the burnt CD until track 5 or 6 then stop and just make the sound that means its reading and doesn't do anything so i just turn it off or listen to another legit CD or the Radio. Its just as bad when i try and skip through the CD, it doesn't work at all!

Whats going on? Bad laser? Dirty laser?

Anyone had a similar problem?

Perfectly fine in a Saab 93 Aero and a 230K CLK.

its just the 55 that it doesn't work in..

Im thinking dirty laser? but im not sure.

If it plays shop bought CDs fine it wont be the laser. What format are you using on the burnt CDs? Try a better quality CD and burn at slow speed.

Format? Not to sure.

Burning speed is what ever is default for Windows Media Player as i burn the CD's using that.

What speed and format is recommended?

errrm not too sure with media player I use iTunes to burn cd's, but always select the slowest speed. Is there any facility to alter the burn speed in tools or properties, sorry can't be specific where it is someone will surely know, there must be option to lower the burn speed.

:o Sorry, sounded like I knew what I was talking about there!!

One can burn CDs in the native format i.e. as shop bought discs and the slower the burn the better the quality and easier to read.

It's just that if your player will read shop discs then it must be something about the burn that causes the problem?

Have just looked at media player if you click the "burn" tag, then select more options, you will then get sub page and you can alter burn speed there, try burning at the slowest speed and see what happens. I have had some cd players that won't read fast burnt cd's, some that do. Try it and see.

Thanks guys, both of you make perfect sense.

Will use a slower burning speed and see what happens!

Thanks again :thumb:

Audio 10 units are really bad with burnt CDs. Difficult to say if that was intentional at the time these were built, to promote the music industry and original CDs. You would have to find the best possible CD media and burn it at slow speed if, Audio 10 might still not work perfectly with this CD.

also leave bigger time gaps between tracks

the best software to use is NERO

i use it and never had any trouble in my car cd player though i wud use slowest burn and select cd audio............... not mp3

Not all audio 10 units play cd-r, AFAIK it is to do with the firmware on the unit. Been a quite a few threads in the past about this if you do a search.
