Hello,

Does anybody know if this Bracket for the W211 can be bought without the screen (is it sold separately)?

Does anybody have the part number of the bracket?
Where can I buy it from (besides the MB dealer)?

Thanks

i'd say its made by merc for mercs, so the dealer is your only option.

Do you have the matching centre console to go with it ?

What do you mean by "matching"?
Well I have the normal W211 center console. Won't the bracket fit on it?

I'm just interested in the plastic bracket (anthracite for my W211) which looks nice and has a very clean fit. I thought this would probably look good for holding my aftermarket portable DVD player (attached picture). I will not connect the COMAND video output to this rear monitor. I have already connected the Audio OUT of the DVD player to the AUX IN of the COMAND and the sound is great. So basically I was just interested in this bracket as a support for the DVD player. But according to this link http://mbdoctor.com/shop/index.php?cPath=25, this MB bracket also includes the wire harness for connecting the MB OEM screen (hence the price at 400 grand) and therefore it’s probably not suitable for using it as a simple support.

I will give you one guess .... the first letter is N.

In any event these hacks you invent will void your insurance since you are building something which is not crash tested or approved for occupant safety. I can assure you that I would never sit in a car with this type of attachments made at home.

In any event you could have just connected a TV tuner and a factory screen and called it finished. The cost is nothing compared to the cost of the car and even less compared to the safety of a child.

Anybody have a part no. for this and the screen ?
The above hyperlink from migabc is to a US site so a bit risky for a UK owner

migabc didnt want to buy the OEM parts because he thought it was a simple weekend job to attach generic screen.

Rear screens come with a new centre console and a crash rated bracket which may be bought on it its own.

Not that i condone trying to add something like this without all the correct parts because any fitment would be a botch job and if the clamp broke loose it would make a mess of anybody unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end.

But i also don't think that any of us have the right to withhold information just to be difficult so -

A21182000327241 that has the ES2 for colour attached.

migabc - Make your own choice mate.

In the USA if you willingly encourage something stupid and someone gets killed you are personally liable. Given that the internet does not discriminate between country or IQ then I would say you can never be at fault suggesting that only original parts be used. Anything that goes wrong then is the installers problem or MB's problem.

As I said it requires a new centre console plus various wires and bolts, panels and other parts. You really need a whole lot more than just a bracket.

That bracket does look dangerous.. But that actually got me thinking... Is the PDA/cell phone or radar detector mounted in the windshield even safe???

If you really want to do it, do it properly with MB parts IMO :P

Hi mate,

I think my post makes it very clear i do agree with you on this one pal and as far as i can tell my post neither encourages nor condones the fitment of any parts either factory or aftermarket to a vehicle without it being done properly and to factory standards by either a dealer or an experienced mechanic preferably with a WIS by his side to make sure there are no screw up's.

I am well aware of the parts required having worked on the things myself so i know its not going to fit but all migabc asked for was the part number for the clamp so i gave it to him.

He had already been made aware that it would not fit as factory without the rest of the parts by you but i just don't think its fair to withhold information (not saying you where) from people because one way or another he would get the part number he wanted why make him run around for it you know?

Cheers
Dan
