Hi Guys,

I have had this Merc E220 2007 with 135k miles, for the last 8 months and it has been never driven like any other Mercedes I had.

I have many issues with the car and the dealers are unable to pinpoint the issues. I have a service plan with Mercedes but they are refusing to service the car unless its due. I am now thinking to use a good Independent Garage to fix the issues:

I have been reading posts and watching a lot of videos but need some guidance on pointing the culprits.

Here is the list:

Suspension:
1> Clicking noise from the front suspension
2> Noise from the rear suspension on slow speeds, with foot of the gas. Its like something is loose. Noticeable at uneven road surfaces.

Engine:
1> Noisy Engine, it was never like this when I first bought the car. Its got worst over the months. Engine has really bad vibrate.
2> The car is idling at 800-950. It has constant fluctuation in revs. Fluctuations increase noticeably when the fuel is in reserve.
3> The car doesnt brake very well, its like it want to keep going and to have a smooth stop i have to put it in nuetral before coming to a stop.
4> At traffic lights the car moves side to side, like the engine is rocking side to side causing the car to shake.
5> Its not smooth to drive at all.
6> Yesterday, When I pulled into the work Carpark i heard a very faint whistling noise coming from the outside. At first I thought this was the Fire Alarm but later when I got out it was coming from under the bonet. I took teh cover off and the noise was indeed from around the engine. When I rev'd the engine it would go away.
7> After 8 hours of working day, started the engine - same noise. Called mercedes - they asked me to bring the car when it is a FAILED STATE :fail as finding the problem like this is a finding a needle in a haystack.
8> SO i parked up, today the whistling noise was gone but the drive is horrible.

What i read?

1> A lot of people say that getting the Balljoints changed is the first thing to do on the suspension.
2> Motor and Transmission Mounts could be the issue.
3> Fuel could be the issue. Servicing could be the issue.
4> Whistling could be the TURBO.

Can someone please help me to get to the bottom of this.

Many Thanks

Kay

I would get the suspension inspected firstly. Any decent main dealer or specialist can do it.

Again get a MB tech to go out on a road test with you to listen to your noises/vibrations etc.

I expect your engine mounts are worn though on the info you have provided. This maybe the cause of some if your issues.

Thanks for the reply,

I am in agreement with you and will even get the Transmission mount changed.

Would you happen to know a good independent garage who will be able to replace these mounts for me and roughly how much?

I am very disappointed with Main Dealer and they are not prepared to do anything until unless they see the problem in action. I have a service plan with them which I will cancel and use an independent specialist. They didn't want my business!!!:dk:
