Mercedes dealer workshops ...work dwindling?

I was chatting to a Mercedes approved bodyshop owner at the weekend who told me that Mercedes workshops are empty a lot of the time .....except for routine servicing of new cars ...... they have less and less to do so will we see dealer prices changing for other work ...........

When they charged one of my neighbors £200 for reading out the fault codes and still leaving her with the ESP and BAS lamps on, and did not give her a copy of the codes and wantong another £100 to read them out again I wonder why.

Volvo now give the 10 year old cars a 40% discount to get work in

I know my local one is very quiet.

Emma keeps an eye out for me.

I had the aftersales manager on the phone to me asking me a few questions about my business!!

when I booked the A class in recently for its service at the local dealership, they said 'when do you want it booked in Sir? we can do it tomorrow?'

There was hardly anyone there when I took it in for the service. In fact I go past every day and there is hardly ever anyone in there, apart from a lot of staff.

Mine certainly seems eager, warranty work is only a matter of waiting for parts, anything I buy they offer to fit on the spoty and when he heard I'd used an independant for servicing he offered to drop a huge amount off the next service.

Not just market forces, the cars are now more reliable generally and certainly when new.
In addition there are less corrosion warranty claims going through so the amount of stripping and rebuilding is reducing also.

yes he said that 04 cars onwards where more reliable and that was one of the problems

Or is it because no one has faith in them and takre them to indies?

Back to front attitude

What I find somewhat disconcerting is an MB dealer member of staff complaining that the product they are selling for considerable sums of money to the general public as a "premium" product is too reliable.

One of the reasons they are quiet is the fact that they have less warranty work.
My local dealer reckons warranty repairs have dropped by over half in the last 2 years.
Hopefully that means the products are more reliable now than they were 3-4 years ago.

Maybe they should start a little side line in Star mods!!?? :D

Here I was labouring under the delusion that if you improve the product your are selling more people will want to buy it.

is too reliable.

He didn't say too reliable, just more reliable.

People are buying MB, it has been a record year for sales I believe, but if it actually works you don't get he repair work.

MS SW is still busy. Last week while there 4 ML's 2 SL's and 4 C's were unloaded. this morning they took in 6 CLK's plus some others.

Nice lady I was talking to with her C class 202 paid out £457 for one hour and a new MAF, makes you think.

An air mass fitted should be no more than £200 ish pounds plus a bit of diag on that car.

No wonder they are quiet.

MB of Pompey run out of work at 11am most days. I laugh in their face.

None of the techs can earn bonus therefore they are miserable. Miserable staff = miserable work
