Tony, the neighbour who gave me the car, popped over with his son and daughter-in-law for the first ride since getting her tuned. The alternator belt had snapped the day before (a bit of fiddling required) so only a short run, but he loved it. By coincidence, my 18-35mm zoom lens arrived as I was waiting and so I took the odd photo to test it out. She's looking gorgeous. I've come to the conclusion that this is one of Paul Bracq's masterpieces. It just looks absolutely right in the flesh.

Nicely lit photographs Charles.
quote professional photographers swear by the "golden hour" as the time of day with the best lighting. ... The golden hour, sometimes called the "magic hour", is roughly the first hour of light after sunrise, and the last hour of light before sunset, although the exact duration varies ...
You are now going to tell me this was taken at midday.:p

Now those are the pictures I've been waiting for Charles! It's just such a smart looking car.

Have you ever thought of a white stripe on the tyres - not the full white wall but the pinstripe type...?

And, was there ever an option for rear quarter curtains or semi curtains that could be pulled back and tied off?

I've thought about a thin pinstripe - there are some firms that will apply it afterwards, the highest recommended is in Birmingham. Until last week this may have been on Mars for my chance of driving it there. I'll get all the remaining interior chroming done and if I have any money left I'd like to do that. There are rear window blinds around (only seen saloon ones) but I've never come across curtains.

Have you thought about having that comfy old W114 sofa available when you are not Driving the car?

My wife designed a remarkably elegant base for the front seats, and a talented carpenter made them for us in Douglas Fir, which he chars by hand. The brown one is from a 69 250 coupe destined for the crusher and the burgundy from a 220d broken for parts. Beautiful and comfortable. They wear the original mb tex.

Yes mate!

I've got some Doug. Fir here too, now just to find the seats!

I like this, great idea for an office.

Best wishes

If I ever have to scrap the car, that would be a good idea for the seats, but as I need them in the car and have plenty in the house, I'll probably not be doing that.

No! Plenty of Recaros and W124 seats, but for sitting on in a conventional fashion, quite enough normal chairs!

Somehow Charles I couldn't imagine you sitting in a normal chair. :):)

Wow. These look really great and also very comfortable. Well done and thank you for posting. Should Charles awake to a barren 114 interior, he would do worse than tho look into my living room.

Should Charles awake to a bare W114 interior, he'll end up with Bruce-skin leather seats at home.

And oddly the burgundy one sailed to Hong Kong on the back seat of a 1968 fast back mustang.

Brunhilde is slowly emerging from the gloom. All film, shot by me on my 1959 Rolleicord 6x6 or on my 1950s Leica. Both home developed and scanned by me. As they are mostly medium format, I can't get them small enough to share so gallery link below.
