Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

Nice coupe - looks like either normal white or pastelwhite. Steering wheel is series 2 though so wrong for the car.

That's the ticket. One thing to note is the apparent robust nature of the mechanism belies its function. When you think that in later versions of the box the rod and lever were replaced by a simple cable it becomes obvious very little actual force is being transmitted here. This leads me to conclude the robust nature of the mechanism is to resist any deformation and thus loss of movement rather than to transmit high forces. :dk:

She's returning to England so has to sell the car, apparently a very nice straight un harassed example. May be able to get some detailed engine photos if you really need them....

With the last piece in the jigsaw of the auto sorted I think we're now fine - as that is a carb car it will be difficult to see much anyway below the air filter housing.

Certainly looks a nice beastie!

What are the thoughts re masking? Will heat be involved in the paint curing?

They normally leave things to dry under their own steam, except in winter, they want to see the wheels before thinking about how best to do it.

It must be said, I've never really had reason to check that one!

I'm not sure about sticky backed plastic either...

Being far too young at the time to think about such things, I must say I was shocked just now to read they were apparently more off than on.

Thanks Graeme.

I've been off the case this week, after 5 months of a lot of manual work, my left hand with carpal tunnel syndrome has been getting quite painful and to compound it, a friend's terrier bit me playfully, but with a typical terrier grip, on that hand this tuesday. It has only just started to be less painful so a rest and anti-inflammatories needed. I'm off to France and Germany next week and then the car will be off to Uncle Simeon to start work.

Ouch! Taking a rest is indeed a good call. I hope you bit the terrier back.

I judged that I would be the likely loser in a terrier biting competition. I gave her one of my withering stares instead.

You should have 'made a tradesman' of it.
