Hi
In a rush to pick up some chairs at the week end I dropped the back seat down without lifting the seat bases. When I wen to return the seat back into the upright position it 'stops' after about 30 degrees!!

It looks like the middle seat belt is jammed. I rang a main dealer who suggetsed cutting the seat belt and have a new one fitted - to the tune of nearly £400!! £280 for 2.1hrs labour and £100 for the belt.

Has anyone seen this before and if so what can I do about it? Any tricks to release it? How do I get into the seat to repace the mechanism? I thought the access pannel on the back would allow this but it seems to be no help at all..

any suggestions welcomed...

I smashed the casing on the Rear single side(behind passangers seat)as opposed to the double side where your problem is.If it is the buckle that needs replacing it is easily unscrewed using a tork socket and replaced at a cost of about £50.

If it is the belt then yes about £100 for the belt, but I am sure that will be easily replaced.Try Mercman for one from a scrapped car.

HI, thanks for your comments

The buckle is fine (unfortunately), the problem is with the inertia mechanism (because its safety I'll buy a new one) hidden inside the doule seat side as you say and its not easy to see how to get inside. MB said that the seat has to come

I searched the forum and found some images of the belt/mechanism but not the seat and how to access it!
