Dear all,

We are currently producing the second series of the Used Car Roadshow for ITV's Men & Motors and we will be running a feature on high mileage cars this coming weekend at Powderham Castle in Exeter on 9th July - you have guessed it, no planes I'm afraid :)

If you feel you car has been to the moon and back and if you live in the vicinity of Exeter then we would love to hear from you. We are thinking of making a competition of of it and the owner with the highest mileage car will be given a prize. Car make, model type or year of production are completely irrelevant. Ideally I woul dlike to feature at least 1 Mercedes Bez though because the idea came to me whilst watching an advert on German TV - years ago... The ad shows a man driving up to a house, locking his car and getting his door keys ready to enter the house. As he comes in his wife has obviously been waiting for him and asks him why he is late. He then replies he broke down on the way back from work. His wife promptly slaps him across the face and walks off.

The Mercedes Logo and silver writing then pop up saying: 'Somebody should have told him that a Mercedes Benz will only break down after 1,000,000 km'

About the day itself: We will ensure you are looked after on the day (food and drinks) and as we don't want you to be out of pocket we will cover you petrol cost. Feel free to bring 1 guest with you and make a day of it whilst enjoying the car event taking place at Powderham Castle.

For further info about this featured item please contact me direct on any of the numbers below.

More info about the show can be found on www.usedcarroadshow.co.uk

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Marc

Oh, I am not sure we have filmed there before - well I can tell you that with 100% certainty though as I have just joined this year's production and nobody that has worked on it last year is back onboard.

It is quite possible though that they were asked to feature on an item by us. Our company is called Daisybeck Productions.

Regards,

Marc

Hahahaha - the castle looks amazing indeed.

I am well looking forward to film there. People were very welcoming too so should be a good day as long as teh weather holds and Elton John doesn't kill anybody :)

I should, of course, remind those who have read my post and the one quoted above, that it should read Sir Elton John.

that way, if he inadvertantly turns up and kills someone, at least we have given him the correct title. then we can happily sue him.

Is he on the guest list?

Hahaha - I don't think Sir Elton is attending the event. I believe he does have social obligations elsewhere pencilled in his diary for this event date :)

:D :D At his last appearance here he flew out by chopper :o :o :D :D I have just thought of the implications of my post :o It was a helicopter and the roads were jammed solid with his fans.

Lets get back on topic :D
My CE has 173k on the clock, but that seems low compared with on here...:)
And is not currently going...:( so probably not much good to you!
Cheers
Adrian

It's a shame Dr Nick has sold his '99 W210. At 455,000 miles I'm sure it would qualify as one of the highest.
Maybe he could get in touch with the new owner.

Got in a taxi the other night.
Peugot 406 323000 miles and and only a clutch change during that time!
Brakes were done a few times but nothing done to the engine.
Still ran pretty smooth too.
Seems a bit unbelievable but I did see the odometer.
Mac.

My 190E 2.6 has 190k on it. Presumably, that's too low to be of any interest too?

Thanks Adrian.

To be fair I am not quite sure what mileage to expect - how long is a piece of string?

Had a reply from Tony who has done 104k in 4 years but I don't know whether overall that is a lot and how it compares to other cars out there. I phoned him tonight and spoke to him. Will let him know by Thursday.

Feel free to ring/ email me and I'll go through the mtions with you and give you a definte answer on Thursday (if that helps)

That sounds like a good contender. Could you get in touch with Dr Nick for me please? Your help would be much appreciated.

Let me know what you think.

Rob,

Not necessarily. If you wouldn't mind getting in touch then I'll send you a car showing form doc and by Thursday (with a bit of luck) I should have a better idea how 190k miles rates in the Mile High Club.

Up to you but it'd be good to hear from you.

Best,

Marc

maybe you should look at trucks if you want high milage..the one I am in now V reg has 873323 km (542682 miles) on the clock and this is not unusual for trucks.
