Milltek/Aftermarket exhaust systems

Having just purchased a C63 myself it came with the ipe headers fitted to the standard exhaust with sports cats. I was suprised at how loud it was! Sounds fantastic. In the showroom it was next to a standard C63 the difference in noise is substantial.

On a run though it's not intrusive

Excellent video.. THanks for that :thumb:

I think the IPE really suits the car followed by Akrapovic. Although there are a lot of fantastic sounds out there, I'm not sure some of them suit the nature of the car. Coming from a TVR ownership, I do like my loud exhausts but on a 6.3 V8 AMG, I think the coarse sounds are more suitable for American V8s. IPE and Akrapovic gives a more refined rumble which suits the profile of the Mercedes. But that Maserati...I love that!!!
Each to their own opinions...

I agree . Some of those systems are just too raspy . The Merc needs to retain its classic V8 burble and not scream . All these full systems are great if you want to tune the engine as well, and just get to be as fast as possible , but I am not looking for any more power , just a slightly louder noise. All things considered , I think I will just go Milltek , or Akrapovic back end replacements to achieve my requirements .

i have the cargraphic and that retains the v8 sound you can just get the backboxes as valved units and mate to a eurocharged x pipe then you have best of both worlds...ime changing my cats for smaller units as i want mine louder

How much was that option mate ??

Ok , decision made . Not going for the valved boxes now , the plan wasn't coming together as I was expecting . I am now booked in with a local Milltek distributor/ installer to just have the secondary cat by pass system fitted . Not stupid money , quality proven parts , no re map required , and completely reversible if I don't like it / come to sell the car . I am open to both criticism and/ or praise as I know you guys like to invest lots of money on upgrades and mods inc exhaust systems ..... Me ? I just want a little more noise ! I will let you know how I get on ......

C63 doesn't sound good enough as standard?

Yet to hear a modified c63 sound better than standard c63.... Might be louder yes but not better!

You have hit the nail on the head. They do sound gorgeous as standard, but they just need their volume turning up a little.
I agree that `full systems` can be a bit too much, but this simple mod will do for me,,,:thumb:

Steve, are there any implications for the MOT?

Apparantly not. Spoke to the guys that are installing them and It will still pass the emissions test. It cannot fail an MOT for the sound.

These guys do 100`s of VW, Audi and Mercs with no come backs on MOT issues.

What I am attracted to is the fact its not expensive and it can be reversed whenever you are ready....

Get the secondry cats removed. Good 20-30% more noise. Less weight and maybe even some power gains albeit slight ones

Yep !
Never went into this searching for power gains. My 507 has plenty of grunt for me thank you !!
Just a little louder will be fine....

And just to clarify for any doubters. I have just e-mailed my insurance company, and they can confirm that there is no issues regarding such a modification......happy days.....

It is mate yes .
