My hunt for a CLK 320 has lead me to a nice example for sale just up the road from me. The only thing concerning me is that the service book was absent from the car, although it does have a comprehensive catalogue of receipts for work done and a print out from Merc itemising all the srvice work is has had done.

The car itself is in very good nick and reflects the stated mileage. I'm just wondering how much impact the missing service book will have on the car, and would it be possible to obtain a replacement service book from mercedes?

If MBZ has printed out the history on their system, then you just ask for a replacement book and they will stamp the servicing onto the book.

Make sure it isn't just a list of receipts for parts, and do make sure there are receipts for SERVICES as these are the only thing that MBZ will stamp for.

And instead of getting a book from MBZ who will perforate duplicate through the book, buy a new book off ebay, and take it to them to stamp. You don't want duplicate perforated through each page if you can help it, not that it really matters if there is genuine history.

I managed to get a complete history printout from MB of South Lakes when they accessed the history on the MB database on my CLK55. The fully stamped service book with my car is a duplicate, with DUPLICATE perforated through the pages, but it now is backed up with a full print out of services and work carried out.
