Flippin' eck! Goes like stink compared to the lumbering brick it once was!

Lookout family car driver - I may actually be able to outpace you!

The car has completely changed and I am more than happy with the job from South West In car tech.

Chip + ECU would do, but +50 HP from ECU alone?

Depends on year of car we can map the 177 bhp up to 215 bhp and 500Nm Torque

With the earlier engines you can go from 170 bhp - 205bhp or 163 bhp to 205 bhp, with 490 Nm and 480Nm respectively.

So yes i Can believe 210 bhp

Can you map mine?

I can belive those figures from when my farther inlaw was looking for one...

I'm tempted as athough the BHP will be less than mine the torque will be far higher :)

Unless you can remap my ML350 to give some more vrrooom :) don't think it works as well on petrols though..

Would this work on a 202 C250 Turbo Deisel? or is this engine too old to benifit from an ecu remap?

What would be the gains if it is possible? what would be the cost?

thanks
Jonathan

All I can say is that the car is completely different - pretty much all of the turbo lag is gone and boy it lagged in it's original form. Gearchanges allot less often, especially uphill - goes like stink on the flat (for a 2 ton vehicle) and is generally an awesome car now! The acceleration is pretty linear for a TD - no sudden "whoosh" of power and then nothing. Pushes hard all through the range - I am so impressed!

Need more time and mileage to gather fuel figures and whether or not the emissions are affected.

It is like an epiphony!

Cost was £300 from South west in car tech - on web.

Simple plug in laptop, wait an hour and hey presto, all done. The gearbox settings were reset too, so that it re-learned the way I/my wife drives.

I have to speak with friend who has some maps on his SNAP-ON scanner. He did this on his 320CDI and I cant s\y there is more power but for sure there is no turbo lag like is on mine.

Thats trhe key advantage - no turbo lag and more linear acceleration. There is definitely an increase in BHP - the vehicle is simply allot quicker. The torque is also much improved; climbing a hill now involves less gear changes!

Fuel economy not lookig too good though...I have been a bit heavy footed of late. So, I will do more figures in a week or so.

Hope you have remembered to tell your insurers !! That power hike is like putting in a bigger engine.

Welcome back Maddox5, nothing for nearly 4 years and then 2 (two) posts in one day.:thumb::thumb:
