ML W163 Speakers Front & Rear

Hi there. Have a 2004 ML W163. Does anyone know if the front pair of audio speakers the car are the same as the rear.

I've noticed that the front sound a lot better in that they can handle bass better and appear to have a better treble response than the rears.

Which makes me think the next natural question: If the front speakers from factory are better than the rears, then how easy is it to upgrade the rears to the same speakers as the front or alternatively any better aftermarket ones? Thx

I thought I'd bookmarked a US forum page (about five years) which had plenty of detail on upgrading the speakers in the W163. I can't find it though.

I was dissappointed with the quality of sound and assumed it was the speakers. I swapped the Audio 10 for a Becker Mexico and it transformed the sound. So much so that the speakers remained untouched.

Try searching the US forums. If memory serves, the rears are smaller. Back then Rainbow speakers seemed to be popular replacements.
