MB G300D - A170CDI
As a new member, I would like to contribute as well to the MB community.

Therefere I share my little experience I have about modifing/tuning little things.

What follows is especially true for those who have an original remote control with springblade key system, like W168 (first A-class, W170 (first SLK) & I suppose the former C-class /E-class.

I always been jealous of the nice Mercedes Benz Logo on the W170 (slk) remote control (my brother in law drives an SLK 320 AMG tuned). Or even friends who drive VW Golfs have a nice bulging VW logo on their remotes

Asking about buying just the little badge at my dealer ended with : "Can't be ordered separately, you will have to buy the whole remote housing"

But thanks to an German A-class forum months later, I found what I was looking for !

And like all OEM modding, very cheap compared to there 'glamour', it is about £1,7 or € 2,5 without VAT.

I just superglued it over the star. Be very carefull with superglue as it leaves very nasty white marks on blacks plastic. One or two drops should be enough right in the middle. Also beware that as it sticks very quickly that you have the logo in the right position.

When I bought a remote controlled Keyset of Ebay for my Gwagon I noticed that the remotes had a small round place in them as, so I ordered them again.

I will try to post some pics this weekend.

Voila, my small contibrution, but everytime I take out my keys it puts a smile on my face and increases the quality feel you should expect of a MB remote !

Good Luck

As I said, pictures will definitely follow this weekend ! :p
I hope they'll do justice to it (Close up picture can give a crappy look how great, it might be in real life)

I got home and here are the pix

Here are the first two pictures.

This is my second key of my A170CDI, as you see i did a crappy job with the superglue (next to the B of Benz), it was my first try, the other one is much better but currently in driving along with my wife :bannana:

Correct Euro price in belgium is: 2.38 euro, incl 21% VAT: 2.88 euro so for 6 euro (about £4) you can upgrade the look and feel of your remote control

Two more remarks:
1. If you order them, be sure to check them carefully, the first one I got was little damaged
2. You can etch the current star on your remote away with a Dremel-Tool, I don't think it is necessarry, but just to be safe.

If you like this little mod, be sure to check the OEM mod on valve caps :bannana:

Looks fab!. I'm wondering what I can stick one of those little badges on now...

(quiet at the back there...)

Looks like you put a touch too much super glue on that badge, its all over the B (BENZ).

:) ;)
