Hi All,

I read on here all sorts of good information but must confess you have all lost me. As a newbie I haven't a clue as to what you are all on about when you mention W123, W456 etc. All I know is that a have a R320 CDI SWB - I wasn't aware that I had a W.... anything. Help me out here as I can't find any reference on the MB site either. Like me they mention A class, B class C class etc.

Is there a list of all these WXXX codes that allow me to identify which models you are talking about.

Sorry if this is too simple but its really bugging me not knowing

Many thanks d w124,

just curious - why do you all refer to this method of identifying your cars rather than using the every day method like R class etc.?

Well:Is easy for an R class as there are no others, but when it comes to A C Eetc is all diff models
Look on that link on post two and see what I mean

I have an E320 CDI. But there are two body shapes, the older one is the W210, and the later one the W211. The latest E class is the W212. The type number (look at your VIN the first 3 numbers) differentiates between models which may have the same show room title.

A C180, could be a W202, W203 or W204.

As has been said, there has been only one R class, but should they produce a new R class, then the type number is the best way of telling us exactly what you have.

But then....where in all this does an R107 or R129 fit in? And what's the difference between a C107 and a C220?:D:D

Confused.com doesn't help. :dk:

...that's because the C107 and C220 are not on any price-comparison website :D
