Just saw a silver W210 face lift on my way to carry out a errand and it was badged as E270 CDI... Who is trying to fool as there was no 270 CDI for the W210 apart from 220 and 320 CDIs. However, this car was a rare spec as had OEM PTS (I have not seen many 210s with this option…).

The car also had a “for sale” sign in the rear screen (may be it would help to sell if he badged it up correctly or de-badged it to begin with to get some sort on interest…).

Well, I made anote of the mobile no. – should I ring him and ask him “WHY” it is badged as a E270 CDI…

It could have been an import, the W210 E270 was available in other countries

It was RHD though.

Perhaps it could have had a conversion from LHD to RHD but very unlikely IMO due to the expense/hassel involved...

I see where you are coming from though i.e. W220 400CDI is available as LHD only in rest of Europe but not for the UK market in RHD.

What reg? I think that the last of the 210 shape actually did have a 270cdi. Over in europe, I've seen many E290cdi cars.

Cheers,

It was on a "V" plate which woud make it a 98/99 model...

If you search for e270 on Autotrader at the mo, there's a silver one on a '99 there. Says it's one of only 5 in the UK.

Common as muck in Stuttgart

Surely if you're going to incorrectly badge your car you pick something at either extreme of the range?

I can understand a wannabee badging his E200 as an E55, or a michevious E55 owner badging his as an E220 CDI, but picking a middling diesel model as your badge of choice seems a bit odd.

Or possibly been involved in an accident and badged incorreclty by the body shop...
