As the title says...

I saw a C36 AMG badged up as a taxi today, and it made me think... if you loved driving all the time but wanted something quick, wouldn't u get a 320cdi or something? :D

3-4 years ago around Leamington Spa there was a Subaru Impreza turbo as a taxi.......nowadays it's mostly ratty old Rover 400s.

Went for a long weekend break to Bruges with Mrs B a few years ago. Stepped out of the station looking for a taxi rank - there was just a long line of E class Mercs. Surely this couldn't be it... (I expected the usual Mondeo or Octavia, tattoos, smoking cigarettes etc.)

Suited driver took us to hotel door in the town centre and carried our bags to the door... 5 Euros.

It's another world. I expect Germany is the same.

It is the same in Basel. My only dilemma each week is which colour I will get. As with jelly beans I prefer the black ones.

Locally (Southend-on-Sea) I got picked up by a driver running a Chrysler 300C Touring (Estate car) as a taxi. Even more bizarrely his previous vehicle was an electric one, when he was our milkman.

I saw a brand new Rolls-Royce Phantom (like Alan Sugar's) with TFL private hire day-glo roundels in the windows in Oxshott a couple of years ago. Beat that!

Not spotted myself but:

Is this one oddball enough..........

As long as the driver looks like Marilu Henner, I don't care what the taxi looks like.....

Just keep Danny De Vito away !!!!!!

Sure it wasn't a taxi badged up as a C36 ? ;)

Pretty sure! exhaust, bumpers and the way he pulled away from the lights all matched up :D

There`s some sort of congestion charge loophole that means if you register your car as a cab, you don`t pay the charge, there`s several Ferrari`s, Porsche`s etc running the yellow roundels

When we went to Berlin a couple of years ago , I was looking forward to the ride into town in a Mercedes taxi : sure enough , when we came out to the rank there was a long row of W124 and W210 taxis in the traditional beige colour :D

We stood in the queue , and by the time we came to the front , our taxi was ........ a toyota - just about the only non-Mercedes there - how's that for irony :wallbash:

Sounds like the taxi driver has been messing with the badges, its not the 1st time ether :) :

And a quad piped E55 AMG taxi (looks fake to me, non AMG sideskirts, and the tail lights look tinted, darker than the AMG darker version & no side badges) - could be wrong though...

Hi Adam,

Was it silver? Because there's a W202 in silver with C36 badges that I've seen nearby to you that looked like a taxi. It had a standard facelift W202 rear bumper on it though (didn't bother looking at the rest of it closely). I'm pretty sure it's just wishful badging though! :o

Will

That greek taxi is definately a fake. There are hardly many e55s in greece no matter taxis hence me buying mine to eventually take down with me. However taxi drivers do spend money in their cars in Greece.

Hi , i do run a Taxi here in the UK and yes its a 320 CDI Avantgarde , which has been chipped and is running on 18" AMG's ... my customers over here in the east of England find it far more enjoyable to travel in than some other cabs i could mention

Very much so except theirs are mostly beige which is now a stick on film over the full car which is removed when handed back after lease expires!

Your right enough Deutch, im in Germany 2 or 3 times a year and always enjoy a lift into town in a nice E class (and yes they are beige).
The lucky Germans mainly have their driving lessons in C classes!!!!! and we get crappy 1.0 litre pugs and corsa's.........

All Taxis in Cyprus are Mercedes and all are fitted with air con, so when the heat is unbearable just flag a taxi :)
